Files saved as MHTML will not open
-
I'm on the latest stable Vivaldi 3.3.2022.47 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows.
-
In a Vivaldi private window (so no extensions) I navigate to the Google site and "save" that page as a .mhtml file.
-
However, Vivaldi will not open that file. All I get is a blank page.
Before I report this as a bug, will someone please confirm the above two steps?
Opening the MHTML file in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer gives me the same blank page. Changing the extension to .HTML doesn't help.
Save as MHTML worked fine for me until about February of this year. Sadly, all the pages I've saved since then appear to be broken.
Problems just like this have been reported before eg. link text but never with any resolution.

@Vivipop There is a bug with the Save As dialog that saves as the wrong file type for the extension. Make sure you're saving as
"Webpage, complete""Webpage, single file", and that the extension is .mhtml before saving. It should remember it for the next time.Pretty sure it's already a known bug but feel free to report again.

I have it set to "Webpage; complete".
Can someone please confirm my above two steps in a Private window?
-
@Vivipop Sorry, my bad! MHTML is "Webpage, Single File".
-
I've tried it both ways.
Can someone please confirm my above two steps in a Private window?
-
That's it - it has to be set to Webpage Single File.
Somehow I never got the combination of that with an MHTML extension correct. Also can't figure how I ever got it wrong because it used to work.
I think this is something that could be improved in Vivaldi - meaning the fact that it's easy to get a combination of type and extension that will appear to work but just saves a blank page.
Anyway... thanks for the replies.
