Using 3.3.2022.45 on Linux (KDE), when I visit theguardian.com/us, the front page loads, then the scrollbar disappears and I cannot scroll the page even with the arrow keys. This happens at home (very old Intel iMac) and at work (fairly new System76), so I don't think it is related to hardware. Don't have this problem with any other site, and don't have this problem with Firefox, so must be something to do with Vivaldi + theguardian.com. Any ideas?

Stable is at version 2022.47 , try updating maybe it's related. Also try it in a new profile as described here: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/troubleshooting-issues/

@ndanger000 In addition to the good advice others have already given, i add:

          1. I use Guardian Australia multiple times every day. The problem you described has never happened to me.
          2. Fyi, if you install this extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/autoscroll/occjjkgifpmdgodlplnacmkejpdionan then on most standard webpages you can then autoscroll via the MMB.

Should have thought of extensions myself---thanks. But it turns out I don't have any installed.

@npro Thought I had upgraded to the latest, but turns out I hadn't restarted since the upgrade. Same behavior on 2220.47. But it's a settings issue---the problem doesn't happen in a guest profile.

Now I just have to track down what is different between my settings and the guest profile...

              Thanks everyone!

And the answer appears to be...tracker and ad blocking. I get scrollbars with the Blocking Level set to No Blocking. And I lose the scrollbars when it is set to either Block Trackers or Block Trackers and Ads.

But it's a bit weird. If I turn off tracker and ad blocking, I get the scrollbar back and can scroll through the page. If I turn it back on, I still have the scrollbar, even after reloading the page, navigating through pages, etc. But if I restart the browser (with tracker and ad blocking on), the scrollbar is gone again.

I still believe you're seeing just another symptom, not the root cause. Here's mine:

                    Spoiler

Unless you can find it, IMO you'll need to seriously consider creating a clean profile.
