File -> Exit Keyboard Shortcut needed
-
Is there a keyboard shortcut to close all windows of a profile (File -> Exit) instead of navigating the menu?
I have Vivaldi configured to have a separate profile for each of my business clients. This has several advantages: website account separation, password separation, enhanced privacy due to cookie separation, easier to navigate open tabs, etc.
First of all I have to mention that all my profile settings are using "Startup with: Last Session"
As long as a profile only has 1 window open, I can close it with the X button. However, if I have more than 1 window within a profile open, closing with the X button will only close that window with all it's tabs, move it into Trash and not re-open at the next startup.
I have a Vivaldi taskkill button which works fine but it closes all user profiles and not just the one I want to close right now.
Any tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

To exit the browser
To close all windows and exit the browser:
- On Windows and Linux go to the Vivaldi menu button Vivaldi menu > File > Exit. On macOS Vivaldi > Quit Vivaldi;
- On Windows right-click on Vivaldi on the OS toolbar and select Close Window / Close All Windows.
- On Linux right-click on Vivaldi on the OS toolbar and select Quit / Quit # Windows;
- On macOS right-click on Vivaldi on the dock and select Quit;
- Use a Keyboard Shortcut Alt+F4 (Windows) / Ctrl+Q (Linux) / ⌘ Q (macOS) to close all windows and exit;
- Create a Mouse Gesture for Exit.

I can add: hit F2, type
exit

@npro Thanks for your tips. However, none of them addresses my issue. If you carefully read my post, I'm looking for keyboard shortcut, not the menu option, not a mouse gesture and not a multi-step key & type or mouse & right-click option.
The one keyboard shortcut you mention doesn't work as required either. I assume you weren't able to test it yourself with multiple profiles and windows. Alt+F4 (Windows) closes the current window in a profile and dumps it into Trash and does not close all windows of a profile.
The only 2 options seem to be:
-
Menu: File -> Exit
-
Right-Click on Vivaldi Profile icon in Taskbar -> Closethis actually closes all but one window in a profile but deletes all others into Trash
both require the mouse and 2-3 clicks.

@rhk If you assign a shortcut to Exit, does it close all profiles, or just the current one?

@Pesala Thanks for the suggestion. This "Exit" shortcut works like taskkill. It closes all profiles with all windows instead of all windows in the active profile.

@rhk What you ask is not existing, you can either close 1 window or all them by exiting the browser completely.
-
- Menu: File -> Exit
Alt F X pressed consecutively,not together(Alt+F+X)

@rhk I have provided you the unformated text of the official help link and the link where you can click on
keyboard shortcuts
and see by yourself that you can customize almost all default keyboard shortcuts and not only. Your description to your problem was a bit of chaotic, mixing menus with shortcuts, windows and killswitches, you could ask simpler:"Is there a keyboard shortcut to close all windows of a specific profile when working with multiple profiles instead of the provided options which close all windows/all profiles? "
So a custom keyboard shortcut and all the rest for
File->Exit
closes all windows of all profiles, that is correct, to my knowledge the only possible way for closing the windows of a specific profile while keeping all the others (profiles and their windows) intact would be to exit the profile by clicking the User's profile button and in the drop-down menu choose Exit User. -
