Confirmation box oddity...
-
Vivaldi acts strangely from time to time when a website produces a confirmation box pop-up. The examples below are from just one site where this occurs.
The first screenshot is from new MS Edge and shows a normal confirmation pop-up box following an instruction to delete an item on the screen.
The second screenshot is from Vivaldi on the same site with corresponding actions. The 'box' in Vivaldi always appears top left, cannot be moved. It accepts the Enter key and disappears.
I have tried in Private Mode and I have also tried disabling all extensions but neither made any difference.
I have cleared cache and cookies with the same result.
Vivaldi Stable latest version and Windows 10 64 bit.
What could be causing this?

@rafiki Do you have a site where this happens that doesn't require an account?
I can't see the dialog box on your second screenshot at all, was that intentional?
Javascript confirmation dialog boxes are modal and usually cannot be moved, they must be interacted with before continuing.
Might be a site-specific issue, here's a very basic example and it works fine for me:

It happens on different sites at different times. Unfortunately I haven't kept a note of others where this happens.

The big black arrow points right to it. It's just a white space with a few letters at the top "com*". I have filled a second copy with colour to highlight its position. Can you see that?

Hitting enter removes it. It accepts the confirmation.

@rafiki Right, I see it now. Well, once you find another site where it happens post it here and I'll test.
Did you try the example I gave, did it display correctly?
-
@Pathduck Sorry, no, it didn't. Same 'box'. See screenshot...

@Gwen-Dragon Hi. No multi monitor. Screen resolution 2880x1620.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Just unchecked hardware acceleration. No change I'm afraid.
-
@rafiki Please have a look at the troubleshooting guide, even if you've tried some of it before:
https://help.vivaldi.com/article/troubleshooting-issues/Especially testing in a clean profile, as I suspect something has gone wrong in your profile.
-
@Pathduck I will do that. Thank you.
-
@Pathduck @Gwen-Dragon I have found it! A new profile did not fix it. However, I run a couple of scripts and I manage these with Vivaldi Mod Manger. I had tested more than once unchecking both scripts within VMM and things seemed to revert to basic so I discounted scripts being the cause. But, within VMM there is a box to check the version of Vivaldi in use. I hadn't thought it necessary to uncheck that. When I did the problem disappeared. I guess it could be VMM not the scripts causing the glitch?
-
@rafiki Good on you for figuring it out
You might want to take this issue up with the author of VMM:
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/30984/windows-vivaldi-mod-manager/
https://gitlab.com/Neur0toxine/vivaldimodmanagerIt's not been updated for a year so I don't know if the project is abandoned.
-
@Pathduck @Gwen-Dragon Thank you both for taking the time to guide me. I will have a look at the developers Github.
I hope that I can remember where I should manually place the scripts because I would like to use them if, indeed, they are not the culprits. -
Just a quick follow-up: I added my js scripts manually and they worked OK so as a double check I tried the problem action again in Pluspora and there was no problem this time, the box displayed as expected, thus confirming it is VMM causing the glitch.
Thanks again both. -
@Gwen-Dragon You're right. I should have mentioned that but they have been there for a while and I never really think about them. I'll try to remember to include that information the next time I ask for help.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Especially for those like me, I'm sure, who tend to dabble!
