Duck Duck Go searches do not survive reboot

I am losing DDG searches from the previous day. I'll do a search and leave the tab open, shut down for the night, and the next day I have a new blank DDG search page, with a long line of technical characters in the address bar.

This doesn't always happen, but it very often does. Sometimes I will get a dialog asking me to refresh the search (I don't recall the exact terminology it uses); sometimes that works and sometimes not.

I switched from Post to Get on DDG, thinking if the search terms were in the url it would be persistent, but that has not helped. That must have something to do with the gibberish I see there now.

This is an annoyance, because sometimes searches take time to craft. Sometimes I plain forget what I had searched for, but I know it was valuable.

I don't know if other search engines do this. I use DDG 98% of the time.
