The Vivaldi browser adds a mute button to Pop-out Video on desktop
-
@priest72: Yeah, this Video P-i-P was totally useless at first, couldn't change window size and couldn't maximize or pause with left click. important features imo would be
- a global window overview (all windows, not just the active)
- a close tab button in this window overview
- not to freeze with many tabs (50-100+) i.e. on
https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/subscriptions - a tab title/url/text content search
- better performance/responsiveness
- first option right clicking on link should of course be 'Open in Background Tab'
instead. The other is just annoying.
Also i want this new Memory Save Feature of Microsoft Edge at least as Quick Option to save 13% CPU and Ram and to stop my CPU Fan howling up all the time. I prefer enjoying the Silence (Hi, Depeche Mode)!
Seems, Vivaldi is running out of good ideas for new features, but i hope i'm wrong at this! I suggest you to implement a slow cpu and ram mode for older pc/laptops like mine (4gb 2009 laptop with slow 5400 hdd)! a browser shouldn't be more taxing than effin photoshop! all in all i like your philosophy and would prefer to stay on vivaldi!

@Joolz Thank you for your reply.
I would imagine running a video in a new browser window would achieve the same effect...
I just see no purpose for it personally and i am sure others will find it useful.it is an excellent browser i should add but sometimes i think it is heading in the way of unneeded bloat.
A poll would be useful on this forum so the developers can see who wants or needs certain functions rather than just adding them and hoping they will be used.

@Priest72 This forum has a feature requests section, where users can vote on features if they would find them useful. Feel free to vote for features as you like: https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/113/feature-requests-for-desktop
Pop-out video was one of the most requested features before it was implemented, so I think a fair few users wanted it. And now that it is there, fleshing it out with features makes sense.

I just see no purpose for it personally and i am sure others will find it useful. There are a small but vocal minority who seem to be obsessed with the PiP function (the usual suspects already on this forum), but like you I see no point when you can just make a window with a video in it... Ho hum...

Never realised changing the close button position was even "a thing". Having found it in the settings and tried it out, however, I find I actually prefer the new left setting where the close option appears over the page icon - looks cleaner than obscuring part of the title text each time.
Also surprised to see that it seems to already be a synchronised setting, since I looked to my other laptop for comparison and it was also showing close on the left!

I've been waiting over four years (and have more than 70 upvotes) for searchable tags in bookmarks. Is that on the radar at all?
-
Still waiting for subtitles support in PIP (muting is nice, by the way)
@mossman This way is faster and use less resources: you don't have to detach a window and don't need to load a new user interface instance just to see a video when you are doing something else on the browser.

Thanks for the build

@josephj11 It's working for me (nicknames) so how different would tags be

Well since the loud (Chinopera-based) minority about damn hipstery youtube/pr0n PiP of their multimedia-shoping browsers seems to be achieving its goals I'd also like to request better and more useable Tab Stacks or in perfect loud minority form and tone:
Please improve TAB STACKS I have been waiting for it for years!
- Tab Stack's thumbnail should be also tab's BODY to be MOVABLE (drag to rearrange) in the visual stack!
- Tab Stack's thumbnail should be also tab's BODY so that you can Middle Click it and close the tab and without the whole Tab Stack VANISHING !!!!
- Tab Stack's thumbnail tiles should remain "always on top", "active" for further actions (yes, smilar to above dot) !
- Shrink/Unshrink Tab Stacks !!
- Keyboard shortcut for "Close Tab Stack" ffs !!!!!!
- Mouse gesture for "Close Tab Stack" ffs !!!!!
Bonus: Close Tabs by Host in the tab menu (like existing Stack Tabs by Host) !!!
-
Give them time..vivaldi is getting there..it is better than chrome already..be patient folks.

Great Work Vivaldi team, you keep surprising us w=and we keep loving your work. Thank you
-
Looks like usatoday is still broken
-
@saudiqbal Yes, the work to figure out how and why it is broken in continuing.
-
So, time is ready for M3 now, huh?
-
@gwen-dragon: Is there a bug reported for this or just a forum post? Hoping to subscribe somewhere so I can be notified when this feature is working again.
-
Thank you for this release. It's wonderful that Vivialdi is evolving. However, vertical tab max width is still limited to 260 pixels, which is way too narrow to be useful. Especially with the modern 4K wide monitors. Please relax the vertical tab width limit to a higher value.
Thanks!

That's what I was thinking too, Vivaldi is losing on new users big time.
-
@saudiqbal There will be no major release while everyone is on holiday.
-
@Pathduck thanks for sharing this. One of my colleague will get in touch with you on this matter.
