Stats for Nerds : issues and discussion
-
Intro
- SfN = Stats for Nerds (here)
- please assume the relevant/trivial configuration of settings. if i were to cover every detail, this would become a book haha
- SfN can be enabled by single right clicking in the yt viewerport area. it is probably last option
- if the t.me links dont open, try using alternates like telegram.me or vpn.

Version: i dont think relavant, anyways: Snapshot 3.1.1906.3 for WindowsVB-69407 Closing the SfN dialogue box π‘
Issue
- the player context menu is not a toggle, it enables the SfNs but doesnt diable it. so, only(?) way to close that is to use
[x]
button (foll point)
(it seems that this is on YT side, as it is observed in all - Vivaldi, Opera, Edge, Chrome, IE too) - The close button
[x]
of SfN in youtube is covered by PiP button (in maximised window with normal mode of youtube on FHD screen - 1920 x 1080)
Workarounds π‘
- disable the PiP (
Picture-in-Picture
) button (searching withpict
or further in preferences shall show it) - Changing relative proportions of viewing area and SfN dialog. can be accomplished by:
- Switch yt's mode to Theater (t) or full screen (f)
- exiting maximise mode of browser window & changing its size, or
- changing display scale {layman but incorrect term: zoom} (either vivaldi's, or system wide)
- add yours: or maybe u know shortcut to disable/toggle SfN or PiP button, in which case report here
Suggestion
- Move the PiP button in the middle of player controls bar (there's plenty of empty space there).

Remarks
- Same prob in Opera
- can someone check in older Edge, or FFox?
VB-69411 Text selection jumpy in it π‘
Issue
- Try selecting the data of "Video ID / sCPN" (either by click and drag, or by double clicking).
- When click and dragging, the data gets deselected almost immediately after and the predecessor text is selected. and on double click selection, the selection jumps.
- It makes SfN for video id almost unusable
Vid: https://youtube.com/watch?v=CyCVGm011m0 (also contains workarounds)
Workarounds π‘
- in yt viewerport: the context menu(s) which we are interested in, opens by double right click.
- Selection: (2 ways)
- triple left clicking anywhere in the intended row selects the whole row (better than having no selection at all
)
- double right click on the row's text precisely, and use inspect element from the menu. This can also be done in loooong way too:
Ctrl + Shit + i
orF12
> βselect an element on pageβ tool (Ctrl + Shift + C
while inspection panel is active) > Click on desired element.
- triple left clicking anywhere in the intended row selects the whole row (better than having no selection at all
- Action: (respective to above numbered pts)
- offset mouse a bit before 2nd right click {in point 0 above}, then a context menu containing copy will show up {
this is different behaviour than chrome}
- right click > Edit as HTML {edit text is not working for me, not in chrome too}
- OR use keyboard shortcuts (and report the behaviour here in comments)
- offset mouse a bit before 2nd right click {in point 0 above}, then a context menu containing copy will show up {
Far Workarounds: (i.e. not completely relevant, but anyways)
- https://youtu.be/nmJ7my5qNQU?t=97
- right clicking and selecting copy video id sometimes work in the context of above link
