Download multiple documents from one site
-
Hi,
I've some trouble when I try do download multiple documents from one (specific) site. At this site I can download one document without any problem. If I try to download a next one Vivaldi is asking me where it save save the file but nothing happens afterwards. To download a further file I've to close the tab and open a new one to this specific side. It's just this one site I've this problem.
I can remember that, month ago, there was a popup question from the Vivaldi security sign in address bar asking me if I'd like to allow multiple downloads at this web site. In my memory, I didn't give the permission. But now I can't find any web site setting corresponding to this behavior. Automatic downloads are allowed.
How can I allow multiple downloads again?
Regards,

@ThomasWillert Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
It would help if you're able to give the address to this site for others to understand if this is a bug or something you've changed.
Please also check the url:
chrome://settings/content/automaticDownloads
if there are any sites added. -
Hi Pathduck,
thanks very much. Your hint to the settings page was the right one!
The web site address wouldn't help you. The documents I'd like to download are reports in a protected costumers sections only. But checking the settings page you've mentioned I found that there is an entry for https://netarchive..... (the address to access the documents) but the website frontend is running under the standard address https://www......
Is there any place these settings sites are documented? Or how can I call it from standard settings page vivaldi://settings/?

@ThomasWillert Very happy to hear it helped you
Unfortunately, these settings pages are a part of Chromium, and not yet directly available in the Vivaldi settings UI. This causes all kinds of issues as most users don't know about this. I wish Vivaldi would add a shortcut to these settings in the menus so at least we won't have to refer users to these obscure URLs all the time when helping others.
The general advice is: If you see some of these kinds of popups asking if it should remember a setting, do not select to do so unless you're absolutely sure how to unset it again

The problem with this specific setting is IMO that it is labelled "automatic downloads" when, in fact, it also affects manually triggered downloads.
I don't want a site to be able to throw myriads of automated downloads at me, while I certainly want to be able to manually pick more than one file from a list.

Your hint to the settings page was the right one!
And how did you solve your problem now? Others, searching for help here might have interest.
There's only one switch on that settings page, so it's not that ambiguous
This "automatically" is misleading as it seems to include any download link where a script was involved (which a user can't know, unless he checks the page source), even if the actual download is triggered manually. It is also very bad form, because the download dialogue appears, but when you click "Save", nothing happens.
This works. -
