Fluid Player not working since Vivaldi version 3.0
-
Houston, we have a problem.
I tested with 2 machines, disabled all extensions (mostly ublock).
The Fluid Player run perfectly fine on Vivaldi 2.0. -
@Tes4Oblivion It's working for me on a fairly fresh (two days old) install of Vivaldi Stable on Windows 10. Can you give more details on what the two machines were?
-
My machines is:
1st one is windows 10 ver 1809 at work, AMD Ryzen 3 3200, 8GB RAM
2nd one is windows 10 ver 1909 (or 1903, the update was too many that I lost track) at home, Amd Threadripper 2920x, 16GB RAM, Vega 64
But I don't think my spec has anything to do with this because at home I switched back and test with 2 Vivaldi 2.0 versions, Fluid Player work fine -
Here is the error I've got
-
Have you tried clearing your cookies to see if that fixes it?
-
Well, I've just did that on this work machine, delete all cookies and even browsing history, no prevail.
At home, I completely removed Vivaldi 3.0 using Revo Uninstaller to the point that I have re-Sync and log-in again for every website, installed ver 2.0, saw the player work, then I thought clear everything have fixed the problem. Install ver 3.0 again. Well, you know the rest -
No luck, I tried turn off avast' shield protection, install VC redist 2015-2019. And open with Guest Window (picture below), I saw debug console say something Failed to load Vast
Ah, I remember I got this error at home too.
-
the test video didn't show any image, only sound for me, then I changed from 1080p to 720p and plays correctly video and audio.
I'm on win7 32bit, and my monitor is set to 1280x1024 -
@Tes4Oblivion If you're going to have Devtools open, at least open the Network tab so screenshots show if there are any blocked elements on the page.
And look in the Console tab for errors, they can be copied and pasted.
-
Funny thing is, it didn't show any block content
@Pathduck Console tab show the timeout error like previous picture
If I click the error, it'll jump to warning Vast error as above mentioned
To be fair, I did fresh install Vivaldi on 3 other machines (1 windows 7, 2 windows 10). The player worked fine, but on 2 windows 10 PCs, if I close the tab, Vivaldi will go black screen and hang. So I did the test with hardware acceleration turn off, no good.
-
@Tes4Oblivion For me, it shows a lot more downloaded elements. Your screenshot does not even show the request for the movie itself.
Have you tried clearing cache, or reloading the page with Ctrl+F5 to bypass cache?
Are you able to play the video in its own tab?

Well, refresh the page give this
@Gwen-Dragon Windows 10 Pro, problem is if this was a windows and some other software problem then Vivaldi version 2.0 will not work too.@Pathduck The link you gave only show download the mkv file, It doesn't play the file for me.
@Gwen-Dragon https://demo.castlabs.com yes.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Sorry, didn't read your question carefully, The demo Current Demo: Tears of Steel give me error: A network error caused the media download to fail part-way
-
@Tes4Oblivion said in Fluid Player not working since Vivaldi version 3.0:
@Pathduck The link you gave only show download the mkv file, It doesn't play the file for me.
Yes, Gwen-dragon is correct, MKV files won't play directly, I guess I didn't test it
That's what the fluidplayer JS is for, to decode such a file. But at least we know you can access
cdn.fluidplayer.com
.Your log after a full refresh shows a lot more elements, but it still does not play?
-
@Gwen-Dragon oh, this is the 4th times I did this, no prevail.
@Pathduck Your log after a full refresh shows a lot more elements, but it still does not play? Yep
