Bad Request - Header Field Too Long
-
Hey everyone.
I'm eperiencing an issue with Vivaldi since a few weeks, and it's gradually becoming worst and worst, most probably because of my work environment.
Basically, the corporate I'm working for is turning on kerberos authentication on many services. I probably am part of a lot of AD group (I'm a system administrator) so the endpoint it's trying to use is very, very long when it pass the authentications. So I get the error "Bad Request - Header Field Too Long" and I'm forced to switch browser. Is there any way I can increase the limit, somehow? I'm afraid I won't be able to use Vivaldi anymore at work, since kerberos is going to be used more and more.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi @Gwen-Dragon and thanks for your reply.
I already opened an issue a few days ago (VB-65471), but - probably because I couldn't point to any way to replicate the issue - maybe it slipped? Can you check it out or you'd rather have a new one? -
@Gwen-Dragon Yeah unfortunately I have no way to provide you a way to replicate my issue without providing you my corporate info as well.
I don't use any extension nor a third part cookie blocker of some sort. (and the option is disabled in vivaldi)I am pretty confident that I could access those services like a month ago, I don't know if maybe something changed regarding the max lenght of a web address?

@Gwen-Dragon Thanks a lot!
I'm running 3.0.1874.23 as of now, I will test again. Nope, still the same issue unfortunately.
I will try with chrome, I'm pretty condifent it worked on it but I don't know if it's up to date or what. Ok, this is the version i'm running 81.0.4044.122 and says it's updated to the latest version, so I guess I can't update it for now to the *.123I'm pretty sure this is all because I'm part of A LOT of AD groups, which cause my connection string to be really long when passing through kerberos.
Anyway, I thank for your patience and the time you're dedicating to this! I will try in a few days to update you when trying with the *.123 of chrome, but if I can make any test on my end I will.

@Gwen-Dragon Running with *.122 version of chrome allow me to log in successfully, without getting the "Bad Request - Header Field Too Long" error.

@Elsman Have you tried deleting your cookies in Vivaldi to remedy that issue? I once had a similar sounding situation with an IBM site and clearing cookies fixed it for me. Just in case.
-
@kahukura Well, this worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!
@Gwen-Dragon Guess it was just a temporary issue then, thanks for your support! -
I just wanted to +1 on this thread. I ran into the same issue (Bad Request - Header Field Too Long) and the same fix (clearing the cookies) straightened it out for me too. Ironically I did not have the same issue in Chrome.
Vivaldi 3.5.2115.81 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

I see this error after a few days of use and just clear my cache. I am using a Mac Book Pro BigSur 11.5.1. The error happens consistently after a couple weeks and I clear my cache each time to fix it. It's a small issue and I am still very happy with Vivaldi overall.
I noticed I don't need to clear everything, just cache. -
@tnesham You block some thirdparty cookies, that often causes such issues.
