Zotero not working properly
-
Hi all,
I use vivaldi-snapshot 2.12.1874.30 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision d4825a0e635f07e5ef80f6ce8f4191af3996037c
OS Linux
I use Zotero (5.0.85) locally to archive online content for later citations. I recently needed to cite some wikipedia entry. Went there with Vivaldi and zotero extension 5.0.64, clicked on the zotero button. Nothing happened.
Drew the wikipedia entry to the the zotero window, dropped and a basic (web page) entry was created.
Did the same with firefox, clicked the zotero - button and everything worked and some more information was picked up. I haven't tried with chrome or chromium. But a working zotero seems pretty essential to me. -
It's important to know if this behavior is unique to Vivaldi or if the same thing happens in Chrome/ Chromium. If it the behavior is the same in Chrome/ Chromium, then it should be reported there and fixed upstream.
Additionally, the extension developer should be notified regardless of what behavior exists in Chrome/ium (though they should know what the behaviors are), as it's possibly an issue on their side.

I just used zotero earlier today without any difficulty -
are you using the latest version of both the extension and the desktop application?(edit: I see you are using the most recent version)Also, try it with other extensions disabled, they may be interfering
-
Tested with Chromium Version 80.0.3987.162 (openSUSE Build) (64-bit) and works even better than firefox.
-
With all other extensions switched off, it still does not work.
Try https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anwendungssoftware for me, it does not work. I also have a different icon than chromium for the zotero connector.

@rigo Works for me. I'm using windows, perhaps this bug is specific to linux or openSUSE. Someone using that OS would need to test as well.
In any case, if it is working in a fresh chromium profile but not a fresh vivaldi profile, feel free to file a bug report.
For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks.

Ok, my next suspicion would be some profile hiccup. Hm, it is hard to throw a fine tuned profile... I will try and if it doesn't work, I will report a bug
-
Ok, tested now with a brand new profile and it works. So some leftover from some old vivaldi-snapshot (I'm using since a loooong time) is in the way. But now I have to find out what and to recover my profile

Removing all extensions and re-installing them re-enabled zotero. So something went wrong with the extension versioning over time. For opensuse, go to .config/vivaldi-snapshot/Default and rm -rf all Extension directories. Re-install from scratch and it works
