Vivaldi hangs on various sites containing video
-
@Ayespy neither did I. This whole video hanging the browser thing is the biggest issue I've had with Vivaldi since 2015. Before, there were just some minor quirks.
-
@daerragh And to solve it here, I only needed ad blocking (prevented the videos running in background). But we have had numerous users disable GPU acceleration for one reason or another, and no one has ever had browser hangs or weird tab behavior as a result. I wonder if there is some other factor at work here.
What happens if you refresh your profile?
-
@Ayespy I've got Vivaldi's built-in ad blocking enabled.
I'm just gonna reinstall from scratch, it will be faster and less problem prone.
-
@daerragh Reinstalling almost certainly won't do anything. Refreshing your profile will.

@mtaki14 Well, that sux. Doesn't do it here any more.

"Me too".
One thing that on my system will reliably cause the hang is scrolling over a video preview on the Bing search results page. I also had Viv hang the same way when closing the Desmos graphing calculator page, after clicking the "Yes I really do want to leave your website" popup.
This has been a quite frequent bug for a couple of weeks for me now. Using latest snapshot as of this posting.

As @Gwen-Dragon mentioned we have released a fixed for this issue in today's snapshot. I'm closing this thread here to make sure that you report your results in the blog comments. As we're about to release a stable version very soon, it's easier for us to gather all your feedback in one place and where the QAs keep checking for feedback regularly.
Thanks in advance for your understanding. -
