worldwide radio 3.4 not playing some of the stations
-
2.11.1811.49 (stable channel) (64-bit) macOS
I use worldwide radio extension for listening my radio channels. but, some of the stations are not working. it never endlessly tries to load the radio but never starts playing.
I tested the same extension in chrome, brave and firefox, it works perfectly fine. in chrome, even it can't load the station for the first time after a while it stops loading, and if I try it for the second time station starts playing, but this happens very vey rarely -on other browsers. most of the time extension works without any problems on other browsers.
I can't determine if it's an extension bug, or a problem with vivaldi or my settings. I even reset my vivaldi account, reset the browser and setup everything from scratch again, but nothing works...
if I can get any help about this, any advice about how to proceed either if it's a vivaldi bug or the extension itself, would be very appreciated...
thank you

@baris-sehri It would help if you are able to tell what stations you have trouble playing with the extension.

@baris-sehri I was able to find the URLs the extension tries to use:
http://ntvrdsc.radyotvonline.com/
http://eksensc.radyotvonline.com/Problem is, the streams are actually running in the background downloading but it's not playing. I tried in Firefox and it works there. I don't have Chrome to test with, and it's not available in Opera.
Other radio stations I tested work fine. I would report this to the extension developer, but maybe it's an issue with Chromium/Vivaldi and specifically audio/aacp streams.
I did find some other mentions of trouble with audio/aacp streams:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=394681

thanks a lot for helping and finding what was wrong. it means a lot
I think opera has an extension for running chrome extensions on opera, here. if you like to use it for your own use.
you said you're reporting it, would you like me to report it too? I'm not sure if I'm capable enough in detail, technically...
-
@baris-sehri No worries
I'm not reporting it, but I can see how "I would" can be misunderstood - What I meant was I would report it if I actually used the extension
Just report it and refer to this thread or copy my text after you write up how to reproduce it.
BTW I just tested in Chromium (portable) and the same happens there, so I guess this is a general issue with Chromium browsers. I doubt anything can be done in any short timeframe.

I'm not sure what was going on exactly, but I was using macOS catalina 10.15.3 and yesterday when I was listening radio in this extension once with firefox and once with vivaldi my computer frozen twice. after the second time I updated it to 10.15.4, delete this extension and not using it right now. anyone can recommend a radio extension? or is there anyone who nows why this freezing was happening? today nothing happened without the extension and after the update but I need a radio

@baris-sehri said in worldwide radio 3.4 not playing some of the stations:
@Catweazle only problem with this it stops when I add it to web panel but don't keep the panel open...
I just have it in another tab, If you want music on the Web Panel, you can use EarBits, this works on the webpanel and also on the mobile. Only music, no ads, non-stop your favorite genre.
-
@Catweazle thank you for the help. for now I like radio green and trying to use it...
I'm listening this radio station from turkey specifically. other than music they have very good programs for world news, political analysis, environmental issues, minorities, literature, arts, psychology, child care etc.
I also want to be able to switch to an another station when I want by using the same web panel / service. that's my problem. otherwise I have their live stream on my web panel (and it keeps running even if I close the sidebar) or I can just try to keep the side bar open with radio green...
I like radio green interface more to be honest.

if anyone stumbles upon this thread; after all the talk we had in here, me personally ended up with using tunein in my sidebar for listening radio stations. I just wanted to put this in here as an alternative for people who is looking for some solutions...
-
@baris-sehri That's good to hear. And TuneIn is great, a huge selection of stations.
In fact, if you want to have more stations in the same panel, you can create a local (or remote) html file and use the station embed codes to have a list of your favourite stations. But maybe if you sign up for TuneIn you can save stations and use their favourites page in a panel the same way (I've not signed up yet...)?
<html> <head><title>TuneIn Radio</title></head> <link rel="icon" href="https://cdn-web.tunein.com/assets/img/favicon-v2.ico"> <body> <iframe src="https://tunein.com/embed/player/s18517/" style="width:100%; height:100px;" scrolling="no" frameborder="no"></iframe> <iframe src="https://tunein.com/embed/player/s215195/" style="width:100%; height:100px;" scrolling="no" frameborder="no"></iframe> <iframe src="https://tunein.com/embed/player/s15237/" style="width:100%; height:100px;" scrolling="no" frameborder="no"></iframe> </body> </html>
EDIT: I just tested, their Favorites page works OK in the panel, if not for their a**hole design constantly nagging users to install their stupid app.... on a PC...
-
@Pathduck I signed-up and add my favourites page as a web panel, not having any problems now. I think their message for installing their app only shows up in mobile version? not sure, but I'm not having problems with it...

maybe it's an issue with Chromium/Vivaldi and specifically audio/aacp streams
today I realize that this radio stations are working fine with opera and brave, but again they are not working on vivaldi. I don't think it's a chromium problem.
-
@Gwen-Dragon as far as I can remember I reported this issue already. thanks for the reply
-
After right click and validate, streams work, but you 'll have to do it again and again after changing stations. Actually, restarting the stream seems to help.
-
@Gwen-Dragon
Please, which VB-xxxxxx bug number?
I tried to find it in e-mails, but couldn't find it. maybe I was remembering wrong, I'm sorry. I'm going to report it now, thank you for your help
After right click and validate, streams work
unfortunately it's not working for me. I click to validate, but the radio station I was mentioning specifically not working on vivaldi no matter what, but works on every other browser., it's a bit frustrating.
