Title pretty much says it all. How do you go about doing it? Can it even be done?

@mjl1297 Welcome to the Vivaldi Community ๐Ÿ™‚

You can turn off these things in the settings:
Settings > Privacy > Third part services
Settings > Search > Allow search suggestions
For autofill this is not implemented in Vivaldi yet so you need to use the Chromium settings:
      chrome://settings/addresses

Note: Most things can be found by searching in the Settings pages ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks Pathduck for your reply and the welcome.

Actually I've already done that and the problem persists. Here's a picture of what happens when I type the letter "v" in the Google search bar. Bear in mind I've been to none of those sites but there they are. I don't need nor do I want suggestions from Google or anyone else when I'm searching online.

So once again, can this be done or am I asking for too much?!

Going to try a different browser and see if I have better luck.

@mjl1297 I see what you mean now - but that "feature" is specific to the search engine, when you're on their page. It has nothing to do with Vivaldi, and is the same in all browsers.

I don't think Google offers an option to disable this. Maybe try another search engine? DuckDuckGo offers an option to disable auto-suggest. Startpage and Ecosia does as well.

If you're of the technical sort, you could try a filter in for instance uBlock like this:
      ||google.*/complete/*$1p,important
This should block all requests to the Google autocomplete URL.

Edit: Some more information on Google search predictions:

To stop that you'd have to modify your settings in Google. The suggestions you see there are part of the page content and generated by the Google site, it's not related to the browser.

When you disable search suggestions in Vivaldi's settings that disables suggestions in the address field or search field in the address bar, depending on which settings you adjust. But those settings cannot and should not modify behavior of websites themselves.

Assuming you have the same settings for the Google profile in that browser, in every browser, it'll be the same. If you see different behavior that's because you've got different settings for the profile on the Google website, rather than anything to do with the browser. It is possible to see different things in different browsers, if they're using different settings. That's a given.

I post from my phone frequently, which likes to change "the" to "three". If you see three or similar, I probably meant "the". I use swipe, so typos can be totally unrelated words to what I intended. Knowing this should help you read through my typos.
