Right Click on Folder - "Save In"

@Franc These are not cumbersome workarounds. We are all doing our best to explain that the feature you're requesting already exists exactly as you requested.
I don't know why you have got it into your head that Chrome does it better, so what more can be said?
D&D into the Bookmark Panel is more efficient because you can bookmark the active tab in any position in the folder instead of just adding it at the bottom.

I am sorry Vivaldi developers, but I am giving up. This would be my last post in this thread.
My first feature request for this was done in 2016, four years ago.
"Add Active Page" does not work with folders or sub folders.
As a researcher and bookmark power user this feature is very very important to me. I am back to Chrome, something which I really resent. If you add this my feature request and as a bonus add "Sort by name", and "Sort by date" when you right click on folder or subfolders Vivaldi would become my main browser.
I really love the idea surrounding Vivaldi, the focus on power users and the a feature model that dont focus on vapid minimalism. But the features I need are not supported.
Somebody please PM or reply to this thread if this features are added.

Ok cool. I agree, this thread has run its course. I don't know if we're having an honest communication issue, or if it's intentional gaslighting; I always start with an assumption of good faith. Regardless, sustained repetition of the same requests while failing to acknowledge the help being given is serving nobody.
Just FYI, we're not Vivaldi devs. The dev team is far too small to have dedicated employees participating in the forum. We're just regular Vivaldi users volunteering our time to help other Vivaldi users make effective use of the browser. One can only lead a horse to water...
If any readers missed it previously, they can learn how to use the context (right-click) menu to create bookmarks: 1) on the toolbar, 2) in folders on the toolbar, and 3) in subfolders of those folders in this post. In at least some cases it would be faster to just click the "Add Active Tab" that is listed when a folder is displayed rather than right-clicking to bring up the context menu, but Vivaldi allows the user to choose whichever workflow they prefer in the moment.

@BoneTone and others.
Thanks for your help.
I did the steps as you explained and it does help a lot.
I still wish that you did not have to open the folders or subfolders because it adds an extra step.Either way, you guys can delete or close this topic, I think the mechanism Vivaldi ships with is sufficient.
-
@Franc Cheers! For the subfolders you don't need to open them up and can click on their name, and then the context menu will apply to the subfolder.
I understand the desire to not have to open the folders that are directly on the toolbar. If you want to use the context menu, however, the current Vivaldi design prevents a scenario where it's not possible to use the context menu to create a bookmark on the toolbar itself.¹
If you want to remove the extra step, use left click instead of right-click. Then choose "Add Active Tab" which is displayed at the bottom of the list.
Footnotes:
-
If right-clicking on a folder name displayed on uber toolbar brought up the folder context menu, then a broken use case arises when a user has only folders on the toolbar but has so many that they take up the entire width of the toolbar. That's more likely to happen when the browser is in a windowed state rather than maximized, which is how a lot of people work especially with the understanding of browser fingerprinting and methods to mitigate the threat spreading. If the context when a user right-clicks on a folder name on toolbar were the folder, there would be no area available to bring up a context menu that applies to the toolbar itself.
To work around that, the design would need to incorporate some dead space, blank area off limits to bookmarks and folders, on which a user could always right-click to get the toolbar context menu. This isn't really necessary since the current design offers context for all parts of the bookmarks toolbar, and the one step faster and more discoverable action that is visible when you click on the folder with the LMB.
