Restart
-
The Vivaldi URLs page states, "The following pages are for debugging purposes only. Because they crash or hang the renderer, they're not linked directly; you can type them into the address bar if you need them."
One of the items in that list is vivaldi://restart/. Restarting can be very useful, and hanging or crashing is not what happens when it is used. It would be nice if one could use it from a link instead of having to type it into the address bar every time. -
@Streptococcus You can add a bookmark with that URL. I have one on my Bookmarks Bar.
-
A bookmark with that address does nothing, and making an .html file with that link in it and clicking the link also does nothing. The only thing that works with Mac Vivaldi is to type the address into the address bar. Why did the developers have to make that so awkward? With Mozilla-derived browsers, I have a restart button that works. With Slimjet, having a restart bookmark works.

@Streptococcus Sure it works:
https://a.tmp.ninja/63Ver4I8pW38.mp4That's five ways to do a quick restart of Vivaldi. If none of those work then please report a bug: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
Please also go to the Feature Requests and add something like "Restart option in menus".

@Streptococcus "A bookmark with that address does nothing..."
A bookmark with the address vivaldi://restart here, causes Vivaldi to restart.

@Pathduck Vote for Restart From Menu Without Extensions (it includes the option to just restart).

Curious, I usually do
vivaldi://restart
in quick commands (asv restart
; I have a custom search engine for internal pages) but it seems to no longer work (or maybe is a Linux-specific problem?).I tried:
v restart
in QCvivaldi://restart
in QCvivaldi://restart
as a bookmark and then open it using QC.
None of these work.
However, all options work if typed into the address bar.Note: The bookmark works if opened directly (e.g. via the bookmarks bar).
Not exactly the same issue as OP since bookmarks work for me, but would love if anyone can confirm
vivaldi://restart
not working in QC so I can report that as a bug (if it's not just my system).

That's easy. Open the Url → bookmark it. At the bottom of the Bookmark Box, add a nick.
F2 + the nick will open the string/Url on the fly.Edited: removed my reply from the quoted "area".

@Komposten Can not reproduce your issue with 2.11.1792.3 x64 Debian 10.2 KDE 5
All of the lines you tried work for me.Awesome, thanks for testing.

@Pathduck My bad. I hit the reply button on the wrong post.

Thanks for tryiing, but none of your suggestions work for me. I get either nothing or "This site can't be reached". I have reported a bug.
If I try using Quick Commands with a nickname for a bookmark, it launches the default search engine to look for it. -

My bad, forgot the F2 prefs. Check mine
Now it will work as I wrote.
