itv hub will not play content
adacom last edited by adacom
as the title - started a few days ago - up to then it was fine - nothing changed on the Vivaldi install - 2 seperate laptops so not sure what the issue is other that ITV have changed something
they suggest to update settings - if i go to chrome://settings/content everything seems ok
have clean installed a new copy of Vivaldi and its just the same
if i install a clean version of chrome all works as it should
link to one program - https://www.itv.com/hub/who-wants-to-be-a-millionaire/1a7907a0081
if not, open internal page
vivaldi://componentsand below Widevine Content Decryption Module hit the button to update the DRM decoder.
Restart Vivaldi and test again if iTV works now.
Open Vivaldi → Settings → Webpages and check if you have enabled in section
- Webpages the 'Use of Hardwareacceleration'
- Plug-Ins the 'Enable Widevine Plugin'
If you changed one do not forget to restart Vivaldi.
If you use Windows N, please install Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions ; see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231
thanks - i checked both the 'Big Bucks Bunny' files and they both play - i then looked at vivaldi://components and the Widevine Content Decryption Module would not update so assume it is up to date
i then went back to ITV.com and tries to view a program and got the same error
for completeness i then tried Chrome and for good measure Edge and all vidios on ITV.com play perfectly
so am lost
@adacom Thank you for reaching and sorry for the trouble.
May be this issue is a bug.
carefully and report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker.
Again thank you for using Vivaldi.
a bug - anything is possible but in this case i am doubtful - its on 2 laptops - neither have been updated in the last few days/weeks - all worked fine up until yesterday when both stopped displaying content

May be your Windows codecs got an update or iTV changed something in their video encoding.
I can not test iTV, i am from Germany.

May be your Windows codecs got an update
Unlikely as I can reproduce the problem on Linux !!
Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 4.10.1582.1
Status - Up-to-date
@adacom Please report to Vivaldi - they will be able to verify if it is a ITV or Vivaldi bug.
would not disagree with either of your suggestions/thoughts and if true then its a problem for Vivaldi
that said Chrome and edge work perfectly - would be pushing the thought process a little if both those had been updated in the last 24/36 hours so again that points back to Vivaldi in my mind either being somehow incompatible
as an interesting note my wife tells me edge has now stopped working so do we point the finger at itv or microsoft
@adacom Please report the issue to Vivaldi bug tracker as i suggested, some internal testers or devs can investigate what may be the cause of not playing. Do not forget in bug report information on GPUs, CPU and Windows version.
reported as bug with link back to this thread
@adacom Thanks. I hope, your issue can be investigated. Stay tuned.
Your bug is VB-62110 "cannot view content on itv.com"
I have exactly the same issue, so I'm looking forward to someone figuring out the solution.
@brightstreamer: Me too - but I can't get itv hub to play in any of my browsers on Linux. That's Vivaldi, Chrome, Chromium and Firefox. I think this is a generic Linux thing.

Can confirm I can't play ITV Hub here either on latest stable V in Windows 64. As with OP your test video works fine and your recommended steps in V didn't require alteration. It worked on V in earlier versions. Works OK in Firefox.
