Problem downloading from Mega
-
If I want to download a file from mega.nz I receive this error message
Any idea how to solve the problem?
Thank you

I just downloaded 2 files from mega no problem. Have you followed the instructions that popup message gave to you? Disable all extensions apart from mega.nz extension (it's not mandatory for small files but better have it for larger ones). I see you're on Vivaldi 2.9.1699.4 so it's latest snapshot like the one I use.

What benefit does the Mega browser extension give exactly? I'd start with disabling that one and see if regular download works.
Also Mega downloads files in a special way, first downloading a "blob" to the "File System" directory in the Vivaldi profile, then it serves it from there to the browser as a regular download.

You can read from https://mega.nz/extensions what it does, one thing that I noticed in the past is that if you download more than 1 Gb without extension from mega.nz it could not actually download it, so I always kept it installed, as I use it a lot.
I never verified in recent times if that's still an issue, but I could for sure try disabling it and try a >1Gb download. -
You may prefer to use such sites with a small download manager aimed at fileshare sites, thus avoiding any adverts and jscript problems etc.
You can do batches by pasting text it can filter the URLs from, and prioritise the various files and connection counts.
Importantly you can resume downloads where sites support it.
https://mipony.netThe installer will try and get you to install a bunch of other stuff, but is easy to skip.

@iAN-CooG Ah right, might be an thing for massive downloads. I've only tested with small downloads from my own account.

That would be interesting - if you could, have a look in the "File System" folder in the profile if the file ends up there when you download with the extension enabled as well? I'm just curious basically, it would explain things if it did not. Maybe it ends up in the "Managed Extension Settings" folder instead, as AFAIK that's one of the few places an extension has write permission.
Last time I downloaded a large file from Mega it ended up in "File System" as a specially named file.

@iAN-CooG As Mega tracks your IP address to detect how much data you’ve downloaded, a VPN is both effective and safe when it comes to downloading as much data as you want.
