How to enable DoH DNS-over-HTTPS
-
The current Vivaldi snapshots are built with Chrome 78.
This introduces DNS-over-HTTPS but it is disabled by default.
Enable it in the advanced settings page
vivaldi://flags/#dns-over-httpsTo check it is working visit this page
https://1.1.1.1/helpApparently it uses several trusted resolvers, but I cannot find a way to swap between them.
https://www.chromium.org/developers/dns-over-httpsOnce v78 is in the main build I hope it will be on by default and this feature (plus resolver selection) is moved to the main preferences.

This feature is listed in 2.9.1705.31 (Stable channel) (64-bit), but marked "Not available on your platform." In fact, all of the experimental options are not available (at least on this Linux version).
OTOH, it works really well under Firefox on Linux.
I hope Vivaldi fully supports this soon.

Looks like they removed the option in 2.9. I can't even enable it via the command line anymore.

Google has postponed it to Chrome 79, I guess it has to do with this.

The best I can suggest as an alternative is to add the ability to the OS and Vivaldi will use it anyway.

Tried this link/page in 2.9.1735.3 and it's there... But when I go to 1.1.1.1/help it shows not using DoH

I guess, that this test won't work, unless you're using 1.1.1.1 as DNS.
I can't imagine, that there's a way, how a website could detect, if you're resolving names over plain DNS, DoT, DoH or DNSCrypt.
Probably, the test relies on the server side resolver logs, to detect the queries coming from your ip. -
Go to the resolvers tab and click on 1.1.1.1 in the list.
Then un-select automatic.
Click on apply settings
