1Password Support for Android version
-
@jane-n works, but you always have to search for the passwords, so it is not that comfortable. 1Password works in Chrome, so it can start working in Vivaldi in theory, because you both share same core code. Is there any progress on this issue?
-
@0x49D1 I personally haven't tested 1Password, so I can't comment if it should work any better, but I've used another password manager, Bitwarden, and that lists only matching items.
Unfortunately, there hasn't been any significant progress on our side, but I haven't checked Chromium lately. Perhaps they've made some progress.

Still doesn't seem to be working, shoot
-
Any updates on this? Still doesn't work...
-
This is still not working. Both Chrome and Brave work as expected, as does Opera.
This issue is the only thing preventing me from using Vivaldi as my main browser.config value Vivaldi 3.5.2115.90 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Revision aa461a3bd88a05533ad39685cf09d87223f4ddb4 OS Android 10; SM-G9600 Build/QP1A.190711.020 JavaScript V8 8.7.220.31 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 10; SM-G9600) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/87.0.4280.142 Mobile Safari/537.36 Command Line --use-mobile-user-agent --top-controls-show-threshold=0.5 --top-controls-hide-threshold=0.5 --use-mobile-user-agent --enable-viewport --validate-input-event-stream --enable-longpress-drag-selection --touch-selection-strategy=direction --main-frame-resizes-are-orientation-changes --disable-composited-antialiasing --enable-dom-distiller --flag-switches-begin --flag-switches-end -
Any update around 1Password? It is the main reason I haven't switched from Chrome...

This seems purely like a vivaldi issue. I have 1passowrod and lastpass, and neither of them work in vivaldi. They both work in chrome, edge, and brave. I keep wanting to use Vivaldi. I keep reinstalling vivaldi every few months, but this is a deal breaker.

I'm in the exact same place. All other browsers work with password managers and Vivaldi doesn't. And it's the only reason I'm not using it. I really love the look and feel and the other features, but this is a deal breaker.

Here's the related thread in 1Password forums. It's unclear whether Vivaldi or 1Password or both need changes, but definitely sounds like they're working on it! https://1password.community/discussion/107074/support-for-vivaldi-browser/p2

Adding myself to the list of people who suffer from this. I still use Vivaldi on Android for several reasons, right now I teeth-gnashingly switch to 1passwords every time to copy the password, but this is not a solution I can accept forever.
-
I'm also waiting for this feature.
The hassle of having to switch between 1Password and Vivaldi every time I'm logging in, is big enough that I don't use Vivaldi on Android, but Firefox instead.

We have some good news! We believe we've found a solution to the password manager compatibility issue. Please check out today's Snapshot and test if your password manager works with that Vivaldi version. In case you encounter any bugs, please report them directly on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/.

@jane-n Wow, thank you for the news. This is very exciting and relieving to hear.
I tested this with 1Password and can say that it is showing up the Auto-Fill pop-up on every site I tested. The only thing not working is the automatic search of the right login. I still have to manually search the login I want to enter.
-
Major progress, thank you! I can confirm the basic functionality is working, but still not as well as in Brave and Google Chrome. When logging into Wikipedia.org, those apps tell autofill to look for my Wikipedia.org login (even though I've never logged into logged into Wikipedia with Brave, it's still the first and only default login suggestion). I believe this help article describes how that connection is automatically made, and it may guide you in how to implement a similar function with the next Vivaldi version. https://developers.google.com/identity/smartlock-passwords/android/associate-apps-and-sites

Found this thread researching this issue. Having the right login already suggested in 1Password is why I'm still using Chrome on my phone.
Looking forward to when this is fixed so I can run Vivaldi on my phone just like on my PC's!
Great browser. Well done. I hope this issue is fixable.
-
@ukanuk The latest snapshot seems to have fixed the issue. The channels doesn't seem to include it though (?).
Some websites struggle to show the pop up in the username field. Also the Auto-Fill Pop-up trigger isn't shown anymore, which was the other way around to trigger the 1Password Pop-up window. -
Still not working properly with the latest snapshot.
I'm using Samsung Keyboard, and when I touch a login/password field on some website, the "1Password bar" appears above the keyboard, but it only allows me to manually search for the login info in 1Password saved logins list. In other words, it's not automatically suggesting a login info based on the currently opened URL (like Chrome and Firefox). Why exactly is this still not working like other web browsers? Such an excellent browser, great UI, so many features (how many browsers are there with bottom toolbar that ALSO has a tab bar on the bottom?), but lacking 1Password proper integration is probably the only thing keeping me from switching to Vivaldi...
-
1password has released an update: https://app-updates.agilebits.com/product_history/OPA4#v70707004
So it's working now on the latest release version of Vivaldi. Autofill is still hit and miss with recognizing login fields, but password fields are working fine.
-
Thank you to everyone involved in making it happen!
To elaborate on the login issue you mentioned for some sites - I found the login field isn't properly recognized on https://1password.community. Vivaldi lets 1Password autofill the password and I can see the username in the pop-up, but it doesn't actually fill the username. Both username and password are autofilled on Android when using Google Chrome, but not Vivaldi.
