No internet connection
-
Hi,
My problem is that vivaldi browser occasionally doesn't load websites, program works but nothing is being downloaded. While this is happening I can use the internet with no problems with firefox. Firewall doesn't affect the problem. I have been using vivaldi on windows for a long time and this problem has never occurred. The problem goes away with rebooting of OS, relaunching vivaldi doesn't help
Thanks

Linux Mint 19.2 cinnamon (4.2.4)

@kestovee Welcome to the forums and enjoy Vivaldi Browser
Help Center is available by hitting F1 keyWe need to know how you connect to Internet, connection type, router and etc. Just to clarify, the forum doesn't support your OS and hardware.

I'm connected via lan. No routers etc. Part of rent type of deal. No problems with the connection to internet as it works with firefox etc while having problems with vivaldi

@kestovee Thanks.
What do expect Vivaldi to doknow, open a website, what error message do you get. It seems it your network settings, -
@kestovee
Close vivaldi browser then,Open a console and type /usr/bin/vivaldi or /usr/bin/vivaldi-snapshot
Then post the results when the issue comes up so you can see what's going on.
-
@troypulk You forgot the ampersand
$ vivaldi & <enter> -
I'm using Debian and /usr/bin/vivaldi works as typed.
-
The path to load Vivaldi used is like mine, I was talking about the ampersand at the cli, as I posted here. why the ampersand? to release the terminal.

Thank you for replies.
Vivaldi is up, running and connecting, the problem seems to be very random. Had bttv and ublock origin extensions installed, removing them gives same errors
The cmd gives:
[19834:19834:0929/013259.331130:ERROR:chrome_content_client.cc(342)] Failed to locate and load the component updated flash plugin.
[19834:19834:0929/013300.351788:ERROR:CONSOLE(0)] "Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received.", source: chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/browser.html (0) -
That's good.
never mind for the messages printed on terminal. -
What was the solution for this? I have the same issue. I am running Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
These are my Vivaldi specs:
Vivaldi 2.11.1811.52 (Stable channel) (64 bits) Revisión 88f335a58f46e6372fa8f4d540ccac8380af31a6 Sistema operativo Linux JavaScript V8 8.0.426.30 Flash 32.0.0.142 /home/sur/.config/google-chrome/PepperFlash/32.0.0.142/libpepflashplayer.so Agente de usuario Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.163 Safari/537.36 Línea de comandos /usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --flag-switches-begin --flag-switches-end --disable-webrtc-apm-in-audio-service --save-page-as-mhtml Ruta al ejecutable /opt/vivaldi/vivaldi Ruta al perfil /home/sur/.config/vivaldi/Default
And here is the last line I get when I run vivaldi from the command line
[6350:6350:0420/124857.159516:ERROR:CONSOLE(1)] "WebSocket connection to 'wss://bifrost.vivaldi.com:15674/ws' failed: Error in connection establishment: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT", source: chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/background-bundle.js (1)
The newtwork is working. I can use my internet connection from another browser or the command line and if I close and restart vivaldi it works again.
Thanks,

@Gwen-Dragon Simply the browser doesn't seem to be able to use the internet connection. Nothing happens when I try to load any page, and if I am connected to some server (e.g. my gmail account) it says it has disconnected and cannot load anything.
The internet connection continues to work normally outside vivaldi.
Thanks
-
It's marked as Resolved, anyway, have your tried in a different web browser?

Fine. can you give us an example of outside Vivaldi, please?
-
@lamarca What kind of example?. If I open firefox/brave I can load any page. If I type
ping www.google.com
in my terminal I get a response. If I close vivaldi and reopen it, things work again, and then after a while it stops working again. -
@surh Thank you for providing the info. The issue affects Vivaldi only.
You may like to try our test. It's a temporary and isolated install (it won't mess your system wide install.
Please, open the terminal and issue the following command:/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --user-data-dir="/tmp/VIV-TST" &
If the new install runs with no problems, then the issue lies on your profile.
Let us know how it goes. -
