How To: Share Tabs Between Devices / Send Tab to Computer
-
Lol, it doesn't work for me, it's funny that it's way easier to make it work if I share the webpage to "Continue on PC" and it opens up automatically as a Microsoft Edge New Tab

Recently I started to use Vivaldi daily, having tried it many times along the years. I use Firefox as my main desktop and android browser, and it works like a charm, but recently there seems to be some compatibility issue with some website, and so i use Vivaldi along with it. I've also been using Brave on mobile, but it's dark mode is very slow and does not work as well as Vivaldi's so I stopped using it. Now, my only gripe with it is that sync seems to not work on the desktop. I can use it easily on android, where i can see the open tabs on the various devices, but i cannot do the same on Windows. Firefox works perfectly, i can see all the devices histories and send tabs from one device to another. I just wish this worked as well on Vivalvi.

@yellowmatter Sending tabs to other devices not working is a known bug (reported as VB-86341). We haven't managed to fix it yet.
As a workaround, you can access your mobile tabs through the Remote Sessions icon (cloud), next to the Recently Closed Tabs button (trash can) (check here for screenshot). It might take a couple of minutes before they sync, though. -
@pafflick Hello, today I tried to share a tab from mobile Vivaldi with desktop one by following instructions from the first post, but the tab still doesn't appear in the cloud tab list of the device. Desktop Vivaldi is 5.5.2805.38, mobile one is 5.5.2807.32. Is there any news about bug VB-86341?

@Vekario
Hi, the Chromium developer have removed the code for "Send to other device" and the bug was closed.
Now it is reopened, and the Vivaldi team try to implement it in one way or another, no timeline.
The cloud icon right top should work, it need some time open tabs appear on other devices.
Some user report if they have 100 tabs open on Android they can see only 98 on the desktop but this is a different issue.Cheers, mib

@Vekario
vivaldi://sync-internals/
And click on Trigger Get updates
Til the results are 0Repeat on Desktop, then the Tabs should appear.
-
@mib2berlin Oh, that's sad news. Google knows that many companies depend on Chromium for their browsers and still makes breaking changes without giving these companies enough time to adapt. I wish development team luck with reimplementing of this feature!

@Zalex108 Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try.

I am able to send from Desktop to Android device but anytime I try to send from Android, Vivaldi crashes immediately.

You are correct , I found lost this send to device function too ( upon you told me from above )
I can't tell if it is due to updates Vivaldi to latest version and lost that function.
Sorry to say , * send to device * function has been cumbersome in Vivaldi since it's first introduced.

Glad I found this thread, and that it is a known bug. It used to work well a few months ago, but now broken.
As many above, I can find my Android tabs using the cloud icon on desktop, and when I send from Android "Share -> Send to my devices" I can see my desktop device listed and syncing, but nothing happens.
-
By the way, while some people have recommended using the cloud icon on Vivaldi Desktop to find open tabs from other devices, at least for me it only lists a few of the open tabs.
For example, I have 20+ tabs open on my phone. However, Vivaldi desktop only lists anywhere between 3-5 of them. I'm not sure what is the logic on which ones are synced.

@areynaldos
Hi, open 22 tabs on mobile shows on desktop:This need 30 minutes or more to work, open vivaldi://sync-internals on both devices and hit Trigger GetUpdate work immediately:
I had to restart the mobile device sometimes but update the syncing work in most cases.
Cheers, mib

Hi,
Look at here. -
This post is deleted! -
@Zalex108 , @mib2berlin thanks for chiming in. What I noticed in the end is that by using the cloud icon on my desktop I was only seeing the "active" tabs from my mobile device. So although I had 50+ tabs open, only the last 6 or so, the active ones, were shown. So I had to go back and refresh/reload the previous tabs and they started appearing.
Thanks again!

@areynaldos
Hi, thanks for the feedback, I always forgot to mention the setting lazy loading of tabs.
I have this setting always disabled, outdated tabs make no sense to me.Cheers, mib
