YouTube - An Error Occurred
-
Some YouTube videos will not play and will show a static background with an error message saying:
"An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: [random string]) Learn More"
This happened years ago when I first tried Vivaldi and I removed the browser from my computer because of this, but I yesterday I decided to see if the Vivaldi team fixed it after all this time. Unfortunately they have failed to do so.
My machine:
Steps I have already taken:
- Reinstalled Flash Plugin
- Enabled "Hardware-accelerated video decode" in vivaldi://flags
- Enabled "Override software rendering list" in vivaldi://flags
- Enabled "Use hardware acceleration when available" in vivaldi://settings
Does anyone know of any workarounds for my machine? It seems like the above work for 2011 iMacs, but they do not for 2010 machines. I love the customizability of the Vivaldi browser, but I don't want to have to open another browser just to watch YouTube videos.

@dionolympia Hi. Sorry for the difficulties that you are experiencing. This is a known issue; Vivaldi has been unable to play H.264/AVC videos on the 2010 iMacs for as long as I can remember. However, the devs are currently working on a new approach to fix various video playback issues on older Macs. If all goes well, the same fixes might also fix the broken video playback on the 2010 iMacs as well.
