Installing extensions outside of the Chrome Web Store
-
Hi,
Do any instructions exist for installing extensions outside of the Chrome web store? I have searched (and enabled "Developer Mode", and found references to a .crx file (I have a zip file). I also saw references to a "Load unpacked extension" button, but I don't have such a button. I would appreciate any assistance with this.
Thank you in advance for your help.

@0001 If you've enabled «Developper mode», you should see a toolbar at the top of the extension page with three items:
Load unpacked
,Pack extension
andUpdate

.I might have found part of the problem - apparently that does not work in incognito mode. In fact (as a test), I had two "vivaldi://extensions" windows open - one in normal mode, and one in incognito mode. Turning on "Developer mode" in incognito mode did nothing, but turning on "Developer mode" in normal mode displayed the menu described AND turned on "Developer mode" in the incognito window (and displayed the menu in the incognito window, as well).

In Developer Mode you can drag the crx extension on the extension manager. That should work with signed extensions. That is the way i install my own extensions.
I have a zip file (downloaded from github). It doesn't have a crx file (and when I unzip it, and try "Load unpacked," it complains about no manifest).
