How can I view saved passwords without needing to enter Windows user account password?
-
I am able to view Vivaldi passwords, but only after entering my Windows user account password. Is there any way to be able to view them automatically--without entering the user account p/w? I do not store sensitive passwords in the browser so security is a non-issue for me.

The user auto login asks for user/pw before executing a transaction on Linux. My auto login is Off, Vivaldi will never do it. The "required sign-in" lies on your setup, not here:)

Afaik Chromium encrypts the password storage based on your Windows login, to protect the passwords. This means e.g. that they cannot be moved to another device and opened there (by a hacker or other).
Not sure if you can disable that.

@paulri
Hi, you can export your passwords to a .cvs file (plain text).
Past: chrome://settings/?search=passpasswords > 3 dot menu > export
Cheers, mib

Thanks, mib2berlin. I don't need to see them or export them; I just don't want to have to enter that login every time I want to use them. From what I'm reading in this thread, this can't be disabled. I don't have this feature on any other browser that I use; I thought it was strange.

I just use NirSoft ChromePass if I ever need to view the list of passwords. It's useful for sorting by weak passwords, finding sites with the same passwords and so on.

As it's said above: Vivaldi asks for passwd when an user doesn't set a pw before loading
loadinfthe OS.
Question: do you use the 'auto login' ?Edited: typo

Yes, I do have Windows set to require a password before loading the desktop, if that's what you meant.

Exactly and you have auto login Off
On. Is Vivaldi the only soft to ask for the credentials?Edited: grammar
-
Yes, Vivaldi is the only program that does this.
Correct--autologin is OFF.

That's not expected. Although Vivaldi is cross-platform your issue is beyond my knowledge. I'll ping an win user to have a look.

@paulri No, sorry. The passwords are encrypted by Windows, and Windows won't let you look at them (render them in plaintext for the browser to display) without entering your Windows password. For what it's worth, the browser can't save the entry you make to unlock the password view,

@Ayespy Nice shot. Not Vivaldi related.
I didn't know windows has nothing similar to keyring/kwallet.
Thx -
Thanks for clarifying that.

@paulri It's fixed then.
