Something keeps opening tabs in Vivaldi...
-
For reasons unknown, tabs keep trying to open in Vivaldi. My antivirus program usually blocks them as unsafe. It happens when Vivaldi is open but in the background.
I can't figure out what is doing it. Is there some way for Vivaldi to tell me where the open command is coming from?
thanks,
Kevin -
@hollingshead Maybe check your system with the free Malwarebytes

@hollingshead Hello there,
Welcome to the forums and enjoy Vivaldi Browser
Vivaldi Browser Help Center is available by hitting F1 key
Take your time to read the Community Code of ConductAre the tabs websites or just new tab? The built-in Task Manager (Shift+Esc) shows all the Vivaldi processes running.
-
Some programs and extensions - usually called "adware" - can do that. In the case you gave, what program was running in the foreground? And what address was in the tabs?
-
@Pesala Thanks. Tried Malwarebytes. Didn't find anything. Been through all the services running and they all seem legit.
-
@lamarca Thanks. I've been an enthusiastic Vivaldi user for some time and have recommended it often. Didn't know about the Task Manager. I'll try that.
-
@hollingshead Check and list also your extensions at the
vivaldi://extensions
page.
Maybe something malicious lie there.
Try to disable them and see if the behaviour persist. -
@hollingshead You are welcome. Please, let's us know.
