Keyboard shortcut managment
-
Hello,
Since a long time i've been browsing vivaldi with music playing on another app, and i was able to use the start/pause shortcut on my keyboard for the music.
Since 1 or 2 updates, when i use this shortcut, vivaldi starts and pause videos, instead of my music stopping !
I've looked everywhere and i cant find the anwser, so i post the question here.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance. -
@Elric74 I tried with a YouTube video open in Vivaldi and in VLC media player.
The media keys on my Dell keyboard work to mute, start/stop the video playing in VLC without affecting the paused video in Vivaldi.
However, if I switch focus to the YouTube window in Vivaldi, the media keys start/stop that video, as expected.

@Pesala I think the issue is slightly trickier. If you have a window in focus that could respond to play/pause, everything acts as expected. But then, if you are not in either a media player or vivaldi, vivaldi still reacts to the play/pause, which might confuse some users. It certainly confuses me.
@Elric74 Would you be able to provide more details:
- Which music player do you use?
- Which OS do you use?
-
@LonM I only just noticed this when I use the media controls in Vivaldi. A video is playing in another window on my secondary monitor.

@Pesala I use windows media player on windows 8
thanks ! -
@Elric74 With Windows Media Player playing an MP3 and Vivaldi playing a Youtube Video.
- Focus Media player: media keys stop/start media player playback
- Focus Vivaldi: media keys stop/start playback of both.

@Pesala Actually it's even stranger,
Even when i focus on the app playing the music, it's vivaldi wich uses the shortcut.... -
I have exactly the same issue and I've recorded my Desktop to show how it is not working as it should: https://youtu.be/hV3kUZUlGSc
As you can see, I am pressing the key to pause/play on my keyboard, but it always starts the video IN ANOTHER TAB and even when I'm IN SPOTIFY.

My problem is the large banner that shows up when I change the volume with my keyboard. I've never seen it before the last Vivaldi update. From googling, I found that Spotify had the same problem, and they were able to implement an option to disable the banner. (I'm on Windows 10)
