2.6.1560.4 snapshot (64-bit) self-streams audio after Sleep-Wakeup.

This is deeply unnerving. For the second consecutive morning my SS has taken it upon itself, after i have awoken my pc the next morning from its night-time slumbers, to begin live-streaming audio. Both times had these characteristics:
- V-SS was deliberately left open when i put my pc to sleep.
- The streaming sites were not the same both mornings
- Both sites are bookmarked.
- Neither bookmark had been used by me for at least hours, maybe days, before the Sleep
- When the self-streaming occurs, neither BM'd site has a corresponding open tab
- V-SS thus gives NO visual clue at all as to which tab is streaming [coz there is no tab]
- I was only able to identify that it was V-SS doing this by trial & error, given no visual indications
- I could find no way to stop the unauthorised streaming other than closing V-SS then relaunching it.
This is weird, & as i said, extremely unnerving.
-
My OP was for my desktop pc. Tonight i woke up my Laptop, & the identical misbehaviour occurred with it.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Don't know.
Have just now, the morning after my last post, woken up my desktop pc. This time the auto-stream did NOT occur ... behaviour was instead normal. Golly!
I had decided last night that if it did repeat this morning i would raise a bug report, but now i guess i cannot / should not.
Tis confusing.
-
Desktop pc again upon this morn's Resume, did NOT do it. Laptop last night when i Resumed it, did NOT do this. There's no argument that per my OP, both PCs DID do that weird V-SS no-tab auto-stream thing, but now since then i've had an equal number of incident-free Resumes. Presumably therefore it is not some weird V-SS bug after all, but instead maybe due to sunspots, solar winds, & unfavourable barometric pressures on Uranus... ie, who knows WTF happened before?
-
Sigh, don't have time atm, but later today i SHALL have to raise a bug report. Last night upon Resume Lappy auto-streamed a bookmarked but closed tab that i'd not used for several days. Just a few minutes ago, the following morning, my desktop pc did the same thing. All times this happens i have to shut down V-SS then relaunch it, given no other way apparent to stop the misbehaviour.
Oh rats, why did i not think of trying the Vivaldi Task Manager? Next time this bug reappears, before closing V-SS i will look in the TM in hope of maybe seeing the errant ghost process therein.
-
Just Resumed Tower this morning, & it once again malfunctioned with this damn no-tab auto-streaming bug. Per my idea in last post, this time i did launch V's Task Manager, &... aha... it did show the offending tab [despite that tab NOT being open & visible in the tab bar]. Selecting that "ghost" tab in the TM & terminating it, instantly stopped the improper audio-stream.
Later today i shall make the BR, but i'm happy now that until it gets fixed, at least now i have a practical workaround to manage this bug.
PS: Btw, i am writing this post in a V-SS view comprising two tiled tabs, this one & the BR page. The performance is shockingly bad like this... huge lagginess. I have read others mention this before, & now that i've experienced it myself i can certainly see why people are unhappy with this bug as well.
-
It recurred again today in desktop pc, & last night in laptop, both now running 2.6.1566.6.
I created the bug report -- VB-54203.
-
@Steffie Oh, since i raised the BR i've discovered more info. Could one of the Mods pls append the following important info to VB-54203?
- Contrary to my earlier belief, it seems now that peculiarly it might only apply to a single URL: https://iview.abc.net.au/show/abc-live-stream/video/IV1512H001S00#playing
- This is permanently set as one of my Web Panels.
- Each time upon my computer's post-Suspend Resume, when this WP begins auto-streaming its Audio, the WP itself continues to visually appear inactive [this is not merely an audio URL, it is live video, but every time this bug occurs [happened yet again this morning], it is only the audio component of that site's stream that auto-plays].
- Toggling that WP's status from Desktop to Mobile & vice versa, reliably kills the audio stream.
-
@Steffie You're able to add a comment by replying to the email that furnished you with the bug number. But if for some reason you don't have that email, I'm happy to add the comment for you...
-
@Ayespy Ooh, goody, new info for me, ta. Did not know i could do that. About to try it now...
Done. Tis odd it never occurred to me that the V BR emails are not "no reply" ones.

@Steffie thanks for reporting this issue and sorry for the trouble. As I'm a Mac user, I'm looking for some help internally to see if anyone else can reproduce this issue. I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for being patient with us.

@Gwen-Dragon iView unfortunately is geoblocked. Whoever tries to test this bug needs either to be IN Australia [not gonna happen, obviously], or to use a VPN with an Australian server selected.
I assume probably you can't even get the parent page, https://iview.abc.net.au/ ?
Oh, also, it is not yet clear to me if this bug persists in 2.6.1566.31 [which iirc is at least 2 versions later than when i raised this bug]. It did not occur this morning when i Resumed my desktop pc. I shall be interested to see if it occurs at tomorrow morning's Resume.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yes, sadly that's it. You can't get past that without either an aeroplane ticket, or a VPN.

@Steffie said in 2.6.1560.4 snapshot (64-bit) self-streams audio after Sleep-Wakeup.:

It's now my 08:50, the next morning. I have just Resumed my desktop pc. V-SS has behaved itself again this time... NO repeat of that bug again. Maybe one of the recent version changes "accidentally" fixed it?
-
@Gwen-Dragon Pls could you wait for [my] overnight? Currently is my 17:55, pc will remain in use for many more hrs but then will be Suspended when i go to bed, & i will be Resuming it tomorrow at ~08:00. After that i will post another update here... if the bug repeats, then we know it's still not fixed, but if like today it also does not occur, i'll then be happy to Close...?
-
@Gwen-Dragon It was GOOD again this morning.
Given you said...
can wait until monday
...i will review it again at next Resume [tomorrow morn] & give my final update post then.
-
It also worked fine again this morning. Hence, either the bug did get "accidentally" fixed, or it is so random & variable that nobody's going to be able to reliably reproduce it to then eliminate it. If you need now to close the BR, i'm happy with that. Ta.
