Chrome Extension Changes Blocking uBlock Origin - What About Vivaldi?
-
Google recently confirmed that they'll be making changes to their extension API, which will result in ad blockers such as uBlock Origin being blocked (article: https://9to5google.com/2019/05/29/chrome-ad-blocking-enterprise-manifest-v3/).
As a Vivaldi user who uses uBlock Origin - actually the only extension I use with Vivaldi - the immediate question that springs to mind is, what about Vivaldi? While I know the blink engine is shared, I don't know how deep that integration goes.
I'm quite happy with Vivaldi, and have used it for the vast majority of my browsing at home for the past few years (Opera Presto still has a small share). But if there's one thing that could cause me to seriously consider switching to Firefox, this would be it. So I'd like to hear something along the lines of "we're not incorporating that change" - which would also be another feather in the cap of Vivaldi when I'm recommending it to users of other Chromium-based browsers.
