BBC iplayer not working on vivaldi
-
Any ideas why? Flash and Java enabled and iplayer work fine on Firefox, chrome and chromium. Also HTML player doesn't work either - BBC advise that this has replaced Flash player.
Thanks for any feedback.

Do you mean [eg] this?
https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p070nzb2/a-hidden-village-carved-into-a-cliff
It streams fine for me.
If i have misunderstood you, pls post a suitable link for testing.

@Gwen-Dragon Ta for the better link GD. That one also streams just fine for me. My only initial hassles with it were NOT Vivaldi's fault at all, & were one-offs anyway:
- I needed to finesse my UK VPN server.
- I needed to finesse that site's uMatrix filter settings.
After those, it's streaming beautifully here. Ergo, whatever is the OP's problem, it's not a generic V-SS problem.

@teekay Just tried the direct iPlayer, e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0078vmr/blackadder-blackadder-ii-1-bells
This plays fine as well. Neither Flash nor Java needed.
Implies that you have a codec problem - check the castlabs link provided by @Gwen-Dragon -
@TbGbe Teehee.
It'll never stop being funny.
.
PS: I hope the OP can resolve their local problem, but i'm grateful this thread was opened, coz by my then testing BBC iPlayer i discovered the new comedyGhosts
& have just watched the two [so far] available episodes. Tis very funnyDespite being an old & cliched trope, this new series is fresh & witty.
Who ya gonna call

"This content doesn't seem to be working"
"Please try later"
This is the message that appears when trying to play bbc iplayer live channels or just play "Sounds" radio.
Neither do the sample videos play- just appear with a white "X" when the play icon is clicked.
neither does the Blackadder video play. has the same message as above.
I am located in UK so can't see that being a problem - although for some reason the BBC think I am elesewhere because if Radio 5 live is broadcasting a live football match, it stops broadcasting with some message about licence problems preventing the program being played.
I use MX18 linux on a dual boot win 7/linux 64 bit system. I set Flash to "allow" although it switches back to "ask". There are no play problems with Firefox, Chrome or Chromium and I have just tried Pale Moon and Slim Jet without problems. Neither do I use the VPN.
So, that's as much as I know. Suggestions welcome.
Thank you

H.264/MP4..........................does not play ( continuous revolving circle)
WebM................................plays ok
Ogg/Theora.......................plays ok

@teekay said in BBC iplayer not working on vivaldi:
continuous revolving circle
- Are you using any extensions?
- What happens in a "private" window?
- What happens in an alternative user Profile [eg, Guest]?
although for some reason the BBC think I am elsewhere
This sounds very suspicious / weird, considering you said you do not use a VPN. Where is your ISP located?
