          I'm glad an attempt was made to fix that at least. Because I had a real bad experience using mhtml in the past with Firefox. They decided to discontinue saving and loading as mhtml, and there conversion software was faulty. I lost a "lot of saved data" that errored on trying to convert back to html. I definitely don't want to go back to mhtmlThe bottom selection does highlight the last saved extension. But the "saved as" still shows mhtml . You now need to reselect mhtml, and then reselect Webpage, Complete (*,htm, *.html) in order to change this to Webpage, Complete .
          I wish and suggest that this choice could be something that you could just select in the settings app. That way you just set it as you always want it and don't have to worry about it any more.
          Thanks for creating Vivaldi though. It's starting to be a good replacement for firefox.

            Still same problem as mentioned above.
            I like the Vivaldi browser. But I really hate the problems I always encounter when I end up accidentally saving a web page as mhtml. It doesn't save properly. Usually opens in a blank page, or a dead bird in a block box.
            I see a lot of complaints on this problem in the forum.
            link https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/37040/no-way-to-save-some-pages-as-mhtml/43?page=1 2 and 3
            Some may want the choice to select between saving formats. For those who don't . Why can't a configurable option or flag be available to set the default you want.
            Because right now, the default is mhtml whether you like it or not.
            The flag mentioned on link
            https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/37040/no-way-to-save-some-pages-as-mhtml/43?page=3
            is no longer available.

              Well sadly I guess this problem is never going to be fixed.
              For those of you who accidentally saved a page as mhtml that opens up blank or with a black dead bird as most do, try this:
              Open up the saved mhtml file in notepad, and look for the line <!-- saved from url=
              Copy the actual url address part, and past it into a new blank "search or enter an address line", and press enter.

              Example:

               <!DOCTYPE html>
              <!-- saved from url=(0064)https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns -->
              <html class="hasSidebar hasPageActions hasBreadcrumb conceptual has-default-focus js" lang="en-us" dir="ltr" data-css-variable-support="true" data-authenticated="false" data-auth-status-determined="true" data-target="docs" x-ms-format-detection="none"><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

              <!-- saved from url=
              (0064)https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns -->

              https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns
              copy and paste into the address bar and press enter.
              Now carefully resave it as an htm file and not as an mhtml

              It's a pain in the butt, but it's the only way to get the exact web page back again, if it still exists, without a lot of site searching again to fine that needed page.

                Some problems get fixed in the next update, others take months or years to get fixed. It depends on a number of factors such as how many users it affects and how easy/difficult it is to fix.

                Some of the Vivaldi Team will be taking their Summer vacation, so development will slow down for a while.

                  So far its moved into the years, and still no fix.
                  Seems choosing a default save format is not one of the "1 million ways to make it yours."

                    The issue is not really serious as you can select how content will be saved.

                    We can also say it's not really that hard to fix, as the current default has the wrong extension .mhtml added to the proposed filename to save, when the selected type is
                    "Webpage, HTML only (*.html; *.htm)"
                    One has to select first another type, then go back to "Webpage, HTML only " to see the extension fixed, so it's just the wrong one when the save file dialog is opened. 5 minutes work for any coder.

                      Wow this post was started in April of last year. The devs could fix it in a few days. How annoying.
