Unable to see Vivaldi browser in Menu (Internet) on Linux Mint 19 Cinnamom
-
Hi, I have done so many reinstall and installs of Vivaldi browser. It does not show up in the GUI Menu. In command line by typing 'vivaldi', after a while the browser shows up. when I close the termimal window, the browser also disappears. Have no idea why on my Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon i have this problem. need help. Thanks

@grgehyd Golly, that's a bit unusual. It's ok here:
I just checked & confirm that the Mint Repos contain
menulibre
. If you install that, i think you'll be able to then manually create a launcher entry for your V in the Internet [or wherever you like] category.I don't know why however you're having the problem. Good luck with ML.

I think you've somehow set your Vivaldi to only open in a terminal window.
LibreMenu (or Whiskermenu, I believe it was once called) will help fix that. Be sure to turn "run in terminal" OFF, and "show in menus" ON. You can also select which categories to have it show in the menu: at the bottom, of the LibreMenu GUI window, typically "web browser" and "network" with a description of "internet."
Your particular distro may only show the default web browser that shipped with it by default, I'm not sure. But with this menu editor you can certainly add Vivaldi.
Also, your command should be either "/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable %U" (no quotes) or the same with vivaldi-snapshot if using the latest test build. (and you can run them both at the same time if you want, by the way.) -
@fixitmanAZ Doh..; menulibre, not libremenu, thanks Steffie.

@fixitmanAZ Teehee, no worries. I'm looking forward to the OP coming back here, coz it'd be nice to see that their odd little mystery gets solved.
