Mouse Gesture is broken for at least 3 months now
-
I have a special mouse device so I need to trigger the mouse gesture with the Settings Options:
Perform Gesture with Alt KeyFor at least 3 months this is broken. You need to do this extremely quickly which is almost pointless. When you hit Alt and do the mouse gesture, Vivaldi opens the menu instead. I'm surprised nobody at Vivaldi figured this out yet. You cannot use the Alt Key here for Mouse Gestures on that setting because it also opens the Vivaldi main menu. This was not so before, the Alt key did not open the menu, so this worked fine with mouse gestures. Every time I try to use mouse gestures I open the menu instead and it invalidates my mouse gesture (back or forward. etc). A hotkey should never be assigned to 2 things at the same time.
Either let us pick the key that triggers the mouse gestures, or let us deactivate Alt for the menu. But Alt cannot do both things at the same time without causing issues. This is true for any software. A hotkey should never be assigned to 2 things.

EDIT:
This is a bug. I now found there is a setting to disable the ALT for the main menu. It was disabled in my settings but my ALT still opens the menu.
So I clicked this (enabled) and disabled several times so Vivaldi triggers this correctly. Wonderful, now ALT does not open the menu anymore. But mouse gestures do not work either.
So I go back to settings, and now disable the Perform Gesture with Alt Key and then re-enable it again.
Now everything seems to be working again!
It seems there are some bugs with the settings that don't trigger the correct options when you enable or disable them.
For anyone else having the issue, just enable/disable the options until they work correctly. I still think this is wrong. If you enable one setting (ALT) it should warn you or automatically disable the other function. You are not supposed to have ALT enable both for the menu and mouse gestures at the same time.

I created one because bug is still persists.
[Jira] (VB-75585) Perform Gestures with ALT key cannot be disabled

@Gwen-Dragon hm okay.. because I'm using snapshot branch and in 3.7.2202.3 is not fixed
-
Simply hold down Alt key and scroll with mouse.
It starts switching tabs but it should do nothing if I have disabled Perform Gestures with Alt Key and unticked Allow Gestures too -
@dimmuboy said in Mouse Gesture is broken for at least 3 months now:
Simply hold down Alt key and scroll with mouse.
It starts switching tabSwitching tabs by scrolling is not a mouse gesture.
The setting you want to look at is:
Settings
→Tabs
→Tab Features
→Tab Cycling
and then disable
Switch Tabs by Scrolling
The tooltip for this setting seems to be the behavior you are describing:
Scroll over Tab Bar to switch tabs by order, or scroll anywhere else while holding Alt key to switch tabs per Tab Cycling setting.

@Gwen-Dragon Ah okay.. I found it.
Switch Tab by Scrolling is that feature but I want to disable only Alt+Scroll feature not whole tab scrolling -
