Vivaldi Freezes When Using Find In Page
-
It doesn't happen 100% of the time but it occurred about half a dozen times today already. Vivaldi freezes and doesn't return, no matter how long I wait. I have to kill it then restart it.
have not been able to reproduce in incognito mode, but I don't use incognito much and it is too sporadic to try to reproduce.
This started after the update to 2.3.1440.41 on Win 10 1809. The rare freezes before this update were only annoyances, because Vivaldi would become responsive again within 10 to 20 seconds.
I have a full dump collected during a freeze if support wants me to email it.
Note another user has complained about this But I have restarted the machine and problem persists.

Done. Thanks
-
@wholesum You are welcome. I noticed the crash log file was not attached.
-
This was well-known in the snapshots before the 2.3 Final Release ... hmmm ...
-
@treego Were there any clues then about what was involved or could trigger it?
-
There are different ways to reproduce Ctrl+F issue.
-
@rseiler I really don't know.
-
This also happened to me multiple times. Appears in the latest snapshots and now in the stable version 2.3.
I think it happens more when there is more that one window open in Vivaldi.
-
I have the same problem when I use the back button to freeze.
-
@slitkx Of course, you cannot afford to have work interrupted by bugs, but you can help the Vivaldi Team by submitting a Bug Report. There may be several different causes for this Find in Page freeze.
-
Find in Page it's a known issue. In case of reporting the same issue will create more and more duplicate.
-
@lamarca Since there are different ways to reproduce it, I think it helps to have more reports with different recipes.
The one recipe that is easily reproducible may be the one that leads to a fix.

"To help us get 2.3 out the door as soon as possible, please focus your feedback on serious regressions since 2.2 stable."

Just happened to me right now.
I'm not even bothering to send crash logs because after hundreds of them. Ii have a feeling that they are being ignored. Also this nasty bug not fixed
I wonder if 2. 2. 2019 I was using another browser

@Gwen-Dragon @slitkx Please see my post here too.
-
I also noticed that sometimes it doesn't freeze. Vivaldi just exits, entirely, just like a graceful quit.
This bug is much more annoying than the can't copy the url when you select from right to left (nothing copies). I can live with that one. but i can't live with this one. not going back to chrome, but might have to move to firefox.

@lamarca crashlog was included in the 1st email I got from Jira.

Had this happen multiple times as well.
