Vivaldi Portable in PortableApps.com format?
-
Could it be possible to make a PortableApps.com version of Vivaldi? Now, I know there was already discussion about how Vivaldi isn't portable and that you lose your plugins and saved passwords due to how Chromium is built, but from what I've seen PortableApps.com has managed to solve this problem, since they offer fully portable versions of Google Chrome and Opera, which use the Chromium engine, just like Vivaldi.
I have a habit of packing my USB stick with portable applications to easily transport my workflow between various computers in my school, and the only program I'm missing the most is Vivaldi. And I'm pretty sure that many people would love to have a portable installation of Vivaldi.

Actually, they haven't fully "solved this problem". You might take note of the following from the Portable Apps page about their Opera 'Portable' version (https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/opera_portable ) :
Passwords Not Saved Between PCs By Default: Opera stores passwords in such a way that they are encrypted in a way tied to current PC's operating system, the same issue Google Chrome has. While the passwords are not kept or left behind on the PC itself, they won't be retrievable when you move to a new PC. You must sync your password to Opera in order to preserve them as you move PCs or upgrade operating systems.
Certificates Not Portable: Opera, like Google Chrome, has no certificate manager. It uses Windows' certificates manager. So, any certificates you install are stored on the current local machine and will not travel with you. Thus, you should not use any private certificates with Opera except on your own PC.
Note that other portable browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition do not have the password, extension, and certificate issues mentioned above. These issues are specific to Opera and other Chrome-based browsers due to Chrome's design and not something we can work around without fixes to the base app by the Chrome developers.
Though not as explicitly stated earlier, their last quoted paragraph implies the non-portability relates to extensions as well for Chrome-based 'portable apps' browsers.

Anything happening with this?

@hornetster No progress to create Vivaldi as a PortableApp unless a solution is found for crypted password, extensions and some other settings.
In meantime a Standalone installation on a USB stick should work for most users.
