Feature request: "Open Link in New Tab" inheriting current tab properties
-
Hi there, It would be nice if a new tab created with "Open Link in New Tab" inherited the current tab's properties such as the zoom level and the "no images" setting if the new webpage is on the the same webserver. Scenario: I go to the top page of a news site. I disable the images and zoom in to read the text of news. I open several headlines in separate tabs so that I read the articles one by one. I want all the new pages have the same font size and no images. Separate questions: [ol] [li]How can one open new tabs in the background?[/li] [li]How can one open new tabs to be automatically grouped in a stack?[/li] [/ol] These features would enhance the experience of reading a news site as I describe above. Clone tab will solve the zoom problem, but not the hide images problem.
To open a link in the background use middle-click.
To stack similar tabs use the right-click option on the tabs to Group similar tabs to stack.

The bug of image setting not following parent tab is already reported.

Thank you!
I'm sure that you are pointing out what is currently achievable and that you are not objecting to my request, right? But, just for clarity, I explain how my proposal is different.
To open the URL in a separate Tab that inherits the current page's settings, you have to move your mouse cursor to the tab bar, right-click, choose "Clone Tab", move your mouse cursor back to the link you want to open, and click on it–-a three-step operation (depending on how you count the steps). My proposal is a one-step operation.
The following two issues are separate, off-topic discussions.
Middle click: How can one re-assign mouse clicks? Middle click is the least available of the click types. The Mac trackpad, for example, doesn't have one (you would need a third-party app).
Tab stacking: what I'm asking for is basically an automatic tab stacking, as I'm sure you know. I guess this feature has already been asked for, because it's so obvious a feature that one wants.
In another thread, they talk about the tree-style tabs, referring to the Firefox extension. I actually use it on Firefox. A tree branch automatically forms a group, which is a form of automatic tab stacking. Quite useful.
