Impossible to export contact from contacts.google.com

Hello,

I wanted to export a contact from contacts.google.com (csv, vcard), the download panel opens but nothing is downloaded.
I tried with another browser (firefox) and it worked.

I tried the two options from the dropdown : "download" and "download under".
For information, I deactivated ublock origins , i'm on ubuntu 18.10 with vivaldi 2.2.1388.37 (Stable channel) (64 bits)

Is it just me ?

I can confirm.

PS: Perhaps relatedly, I’ve also had to switch to another browser to import events into calendar.google.com so I expect it’s Google’s fault.

"User Agent Switcher for Chrome" with the string:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.170 Safari/537.36
and other options available from the plugin (even firefox 33 user agent)
But no, it's not working, same problem.

Hi, no problems here, Export > save dialog opens > Save > complete dialog show finish download. Ready.

Weird, do you use the latest version of contacts.google.com made in material design ?
On the old version (i tried a few seconds ago) it works fine.
I switched back to the new version and same problem.

I never change anything in contacts so I can verify it work only with the "Old" version.

just happened to me too

After clicking Export, Vivaldi gave me a standard download dialogue, after clicking save / save as, nothing happened.

I was in hurry so I just opened Chrome and completed it from there - there was no problem. Kinda annoying.

Hello, exporting google contacts is an operation one performs rarely... so THIS happens to me only today!
checked with 3 different google accounts, on latest Vivaldi version installed on Windows-10 professional PC (Vivaldi 3.0.1874.38 (Stable channel) (32-bit)), and also with Vivaldi installed on linux Ubuntu.
i mean, seriously, this issue is still not solved within Vivaldi web browser, while i tried successfully to perform exporting google contacts with firef... or with chrom...
i love Vivaldi and I feel a deep admiration for Vivaldi team.
please team please solve this issue.

Hi, I guess nobody ever report this in the bug tracker so no developer know about.
If you need this, report it from Vivaldi Help Menu.

The year is 2021 and this is still happening. Horse Apples!
Really inconvenient. Especially if you want users to switch to Vivaldi.
I only have 2 contacts, so I have them memorized.
But people that have better social skills than I will likely be affected negatively by this.

Yes, in some ways it really is a bit controversial.

Because I don't trust Google, I moved my contacts to more trustful servers long time ago.
For the same reason I left chrome browser and 2 weeks ago Firefox because of their policy.

I agree that it would be nice to have Vivaldi a trusted browser by google.

If not there are enough alternatives to use other services instead of google.

If you want to move your contacts away from google now, you could do it with another browser, save it to your downloads-folder.

At the moment you can import them to your vivaldi-web account, but not into the contacts-section within the browser. I still wait for that feature. You only can add single contacts to it now.
