Casting
-
Since Vivaldi is Chromium-based, I should be able to cast any tab to a cast enabled device like a Chromecast, smart speaker, smart TV, etc. However, I only see this option in YouTube and Netflix (usually to the left of the "full screen" button). There may be a handful of other sites which also allow it, but I can't do it straight from Vivaldi. It has to be through the website.
Is it possible to get this feature in Vivaldi since it is Chromium-based? If so, how soon? If not, why not? If you already can do it like in other Chromium-based browsers, where is the option?
If you don't know what i mean by "casting", you can go here to learn more. The info is a little dated but it is still mostly correct, other than the branding, and the need for the extension since it is built in.
Thanks!
Mod Edit: Moved to All Platforms. Cast seems to be available already on the right-click menu of any web page.

Yes. Right-click anywhere on a tab and you'll have an option there "Cast..."
P.S. I responded to this thread before "Mod Edit" -

Vivaldi wont let me cast from any context menu or youtube video.
I can cast my entire screen with windows but I cant find out how to throw a video from my screen or youtube page onto my tv. I see no options. -
Hi all,
Indeed casting is available by rightclicking on the webpage BUT this is not possible when viewing a full screen or full browser window video. And full (browser) screen is the mode most people use videos.
Google chrome allows you to install a cast button in your toolbar so you can easy get to the cast menu, even if the video is playing maximised in the browser window, but this is not possible in vivaldi.
In vivaldi you have to minimise the video, then click outside the video to get the right click menu, and then click cast, which is quite cumbersome.
Can Vivaldi please consider adding this cast icon (optionally) to the toolbar? Thanks!

@peefy To cast a YouTube video, right-click on it (which shows the YouTube menu), then right-click again.

@Pesala using chromecast on youtube has never been a problem, but many other video sites are (like amazon prime for example) problematic.
Thus adding a casting button on the toolbar or a casting menu item under the tab-menu, would be very helpful
thanks!! -
In macOS, it is nowhere in the tabs list. Instead, go to
File > Cast…
in the menu bar to cast and select the casting device. -
