People,
I have to use that command to stop all vivaldi processes after exiting . . on chrome there is a config option to do this but I couldn't find anything for V . . am I missing something?

There are some command lines:
- $ pkill vivaldi
- $ kill -9 (PID)
Could please inform your distro and Vivaldi version?
The processes have to stop running, try this:
chrome://settings/system
and disable
"Continue running background apps when Vivaldi is closed"Let us know if the issue persists

@lamarca ,
I don't think I should need to use the command line to properly exit V . .
Could please inform your distro and Vivaldi version?
Fedora 29.x86_64
vivaldi-stable-2.1.1337.47-1.x86_64Hmm . . when I go to:
chrome://settings/system
I get the familiar chrome switch for leaving background processes running . . however the URL changes to:
vivaldi://settings/system/
but if I type in the V version directly it takes me to the normal V Settings screen - why is there a difference?
That solved my problem anyway so thanks!

@philiprhoades You are welcome.

I shutdown Vivaldi by clicking on "X" and it's done. What's your WM?
I get the familiar chrome switch for leaving background processes running . . however the URL changes to:
vivaldi://settings/system/It depends on the OS, prefacing chrome never fails
why is there a difference?
The UI is a working in progress, we have to inherit ....
Last but not least, the latest Stable was released the day before - 2.2.1388.37-1

Cheers.

@philiprhoades
I have the same problem with Xubuntu where the solution is to go to
vivaldi menu > settings > general and disable "Show exit confirmation dialog".Unless you use the vivaldi menu or the inbuilt titlebar to close, the confirmation dialog doesn't show and while the vivaldi window closes vivaldi processes remain running in the background.
This is in snapshot... not sure if the "Show exit confirmation dialog" setting is in stable but try closing from the vivaldi file menu and see if all processes stop. -
@CantankRus For xbuntu only VB-47506.
