Is it possible to increase the timeout of native notifications?
-
Native desktop notifications sent from websites by Vivaldi time out after just a few seconds, even though my notification daemon is configured to display them until dismissed. I usually don't have time to read the whole message, or miss the notification altogether.
I assume Vivaldi is sending a
CloseNotification
command, which is known to cause this behaviour and is handled correctly by the notification daemon. However, this feels like an inappropriate use of the command, gets in the way of customisation, and disrupts workflows. All modern systems support defining custom timeouts for notifications without needing to manually send a close signal, with the advantage that this allows the user to override the values if they so wish. At the very least, the time before the close signal is sent should be configurable in Vivaldi's settings.I can't find anything in Vivaldi's settings or flags to disable this; is there some config file in which I can adjust or disable the notification timeout?
I'm using vivaldi-stable 2.2.1388.34 on Ubuntu 18.10, with native notifications enabled and Dunst as my notification daemon.
