Trackpad gestures stopped working
-
Did update Vivaldi browser today, gestures for going back and forward in history (3 fingers swipe left and right) stopped working. In the morning, before the update gestures were OK. In Safari and other apps, gestures for back/fwd work normally.
With 2 fingers and slower slide left/right on trackpad there appears an arrow and after finger release it moves back/fwd, but in the opposite direction as with 3 finger swipe.
Example: on webpage with news, I read 4 articles. With 3 fingers swipe from right to left, I moved 1 step back. With 3 fingers swipe from left to right, I moved 1 step forward.
In the latest Vivaldi (2.2.1388.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit)) 3 fingers swipe doesn't anything at all, with 2 fingers when I slowly swipe from left to right, I go 1 step back, woth 2 fingers slowly swipe from right to left, it goes 1 step forward.
Why the 3 fingers left / right gestures disappeared? -
@lipo2lipo I i can confirm this as well.
In fact, I tested it on Chrome, and the same problem happened there, so it seems to be a problem with chromium itself.Scratch that, it's just a problem with Vivaldi.

I can also confirm this, although for me it's been broken since the previous version of Vivaldi. Changing my trackpad settings in System Preferences to "Swipe with two fingers," it works, but three fingers does not.

@lipo2lipo I think that's a bug. Vivaldi should use whatever swipe method you have configured in System Preferences. Please file a bug report and I'll confirm it. Thanks!

This affects me too, although with a mouse. I have a Logitech G602 mouse, and use their software to bind two buttons to "back" and "forward":
In 2.1 and earlier, this worked okay, so something definitely changed/broke with 2.2.
I can sort of work around this by binding those same buttons to CMD-Left/CMD-Right, but that has different behavior in other software (for instance, the actual back/forward events moves your navigation around in Spotify, but CMD-Left/CMD-Right are previous/next track commands).
I filed VB-47289 in case it wasn't already in the system.

I was seeing this same behavior in the 2.2 snapshots but only with the three finger swipe. https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/32741/save-selected-tabs-as-a-session-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-1387-4/42
Following here to keep up on the status.

Same problem since updating to version 2.2.1388.34 . No more back function while swiping with 3 fingers.

On my Trackpad settings, I see that "Scroll left or right with two fingers" invokes the "Swipe between pages" function. And this function acts as back and forward in history both on Chrome and Vivaldi on my Mojave machine.
What's the difference between "Swipe" and "Scroll" ? I just "swipe" with two fingers and go back and forward in the page history. I don't have to carefully move my two fingers as shown in the demo video on the Trackpad setting pane.

Oh, and there is a reason why the two-finger scroll is preferred to the three-finger one to switch pages. Some people, including me, enable the "three finger drag" (System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Trackpad Options), which may conflict with the three-finger swipe people here are talking about.
