High CPU usage by background tab

Experiencing very high CPU usage on the "Background page:Vivaldi" process . It freezes the browser and am unable to switch or close tabs . Version details below .
Vivaldi 2.2.1373.4 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision c58c89cf28ea46c5386f666df42c514fc528cd0d-refs/heads/master@{#588962}
OS Windows
JavaScript V8 7.1.302.22
Flash 31.0.0.153 C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_31_0_0_153.dll
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.57 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/2.2.1373.4 -
@vkk178 Use Shift+Esc to show the Vivaldi task manager and end the task that is causing the heavy CPU load.
Post a link to the page that was running in the background.

Hi @Pesala : When I posted it the highlighted process was consuming very CPU . Now noticing very high memory usage with about 12 tabs about 1.2 GB ( no video playing) . Also notice the GPU process seems to be pretty high on RAM ~ 800 GB
.

@vkk178 I looked at my task manager and noticed that my GPU process was taking about 700 Mbytes. I closed a window with a single YouTube tab and it dropped dramatically. On reopening the window, the GPU process is now only 328 Mbytes.
I suggested closing some tabs/windows while watching the Task Manager to see how RAM and CPU usage is affected. Then reopen the tabs/windows and see if it returns to the same high level, or is less than before as it was in my case.
Some users keep their browser running for days. It's not a bad idea to restart it from time to time. Type vivaldi://restart in the URL field and press Enter.

@Pesala : I have no youtube running . Just now I just closed all but 1 tabs and GPU memory was at ~ 600 MB . I rebooted my laptop today , so vivaldi was not running for long . .I suspect a memory leak in the GPU process

@Pesala : Another screenshot with 2 tabs open ..Very high RAM usage by GPU process ~700 MB .

I've this bug and others too, while using the same Nvidia legacy driver from march 2018.

I had this same issue, very high CPU usage under "GPU Process" and under "Background Page: Vivaldi". I restarted the browser and had the same issue, it was just going at a crawl. My active tab was on the start page, and I noticed the background image was loading super slowly (I have it set to copy whatever's on my desktop).
My desktop cycles images, and turns out it had picked an image with dimensions 21900x14700 and size 121MB. The rest of my computer kept running fine so apparently showing that image on the Windows desktop isn't an issue, but it does bring Vivaldi to a crawl.
Thankfully the background image changed again a few minutes later to a more normal image, bringing my browsing experience back to normal too.

Been noticing some weird issues lately. Recently learned chrome and all variants (including Vivaldi) are terrible at NetFlix (simply having it open causes audio crackling in discord) and just realized some weird hangs lately with only a few tabs open (scrolling does nothing then a few seconds later it moves).
Opening task manager in Vivaldi (shift+esc) shows "background page: vivaldi" and "app: vivaldi" with huge 100%+ CPU usage (not sure how that's possible) every few seconds and I can hear my CPU cooler kick in every time like clockwork.
One by one, I closed a tab, and when I closed hotmail/outlook.live.com, it instantly stopped. Upon reopening the tab, there are still spikes but of only 3% or so (I'm sure this gets worse over time... jumping to 6% as I am finishing up this post).I'm not going to completely blame outlook/live/hotmail, but it's the only one doing it and they did recently completely change their mailbox layout/renderer. Could be an extension or something. Could be the "dark mode".

@Gwen-Dragon I disabled admuncher and ublock origin overnight and left it (it was late last night).
Got off work and seems OK.Trying turning just ublock back on.
My issue is probably just from using ad muncher. Honestly, mostly redudant and probably extremely outdated. Believe the developer abandoned it. I'll post back later if anything changes.Edit: Yeah seems ad muncher was the issue for me with CPU usage. NetFlix issue I believe is a codec limitation. Even on their website, says chrome (variants) are only capable of 720p. You can do 1080p but it downgrades or lags terribly. Edge has one use now at least.
