Thinkpad trackpoint scrolling
-
Just installed TP3 and I'm amazed. Thank you so much to the whole Vivaldi team for working on such a project. I'm one of those who reluctantly switched from Opera to Firefox when they relaunched Opera a few years ago. Right now there is just one thing that's troubling me in Vivaldi but it's rather a show stopper for me. I could not get Thinkpad trackpoint scrolling to work on Windows 7. I'm talking about the legacy Thinkpad trackpoint keyboards not the newest ones. I have not tried with newest ones but I'm assuming it would work at least from Windows 8 since Lenovo improved their OS integration. It could still be problematic on Windows 7 though. Do you have any plan to support it? Here is the hardware I'm talking about: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/migr-73183 That also includes all legacy Thinkpad laptop featuring the same keyboard. Here the newer keyboard I have yet to test: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd026745 I typically use one of those on my Surface Pro 3 so I guess I'll setup Vivaldi there too next time I boot it up.

I tried an X200 some day ago and I didn't notice any odd behavior.
BTW although the scrolling via central button is nice, on Thinkpads using it means loosing the middle button functionality, and it's a pity

You don't actually loose middle button functionality you gain instinctive analog scrolling -
Alright I had to switch to "auto-select" to get it to work. I usually use "standard".
Still it would be fantastic if the "standard" method was supported cause it's superior to that "auto-scrolling" imitation.
Also that auto-scroll is just supported for web pages, so scrolling won't work in UI for instance. -

Me too. What I mean is that on thinkpads you can have middle button scrolling OR middle button functionality.
Thanks God on my e4300 and e6410 I have both
Did it work for you on X200?
Yes worked. But I cant't do further test right now because the x200 isn't in my hands anymore.

I definitely can't get it to work properly as it does with firefox. If I recall well it never worked proper in Opera either.
Just to make it clear, this is what I'm talking about:

This is the legacy ThinkPad Trackpoint driver. The newest ones integrate better with Windows and I'm hoping they would work nicely with Vivaldi too. Still I'm thinking I'm going to use the older keyboards for some years and I would hate to have this issue keeping me on firefox.

:cheer:
They fixed it in Technical Preview 4 (1.0.219.50)
You guys at Vivaldi just rock! -
While this is now working with the older Thinkpad keyboard it is however quite broken with the newer keyboards.
Could we have a setting option to disable Close Tab with Middle Button?
Could we have a setting option to disable Auto Scroll so that the Trackpoint scrolling can take over? -
