@Stardust What do you do when you stop using V?
When I stop using V I am starting to use F
-
I stop to use Vivaldi when Internet is down, my PC broken or I am dead.

When Internet is down you could open a pdf book and read it in Vivaldi
Or play the Vivaldia game! -

My suggestion would be simply to restore from backup, then keep going.
Yep, very similar idea

Literally the only reason I made an account on this forum is to regularly check in on the status of this thread. ;-; I just need tab-to-search and I can move over. Until then, I'm stuck on other chromium options. It's the one thing holding me back.

I wonder what is that? Maybe video/gif?
I just don't use Chrome -
@Stardust There's a gif / video on page 2 of that thread. c;

@Awesomolocity Aah, I thought there was only one post (3 page)

@Awesomolocity well, looks like a very popular feature. Personally I don't use url bar for searching at all so this feature is not for me. I have several unimplemented Feature Requests very important for me, so

Lack of page translations, missing omnibox API, non-pretty IDN (localized, i.e. non-English URLs) display, and some minor Chrome plugin incompatibilities are the main reasons I still use Chrome on a regular basis.

Lack of page translations
It is coming soon. You can enable it in vivaldi://experiments or use the latest snapshots.

This is a very old issue. Fixing it may have some security issues.
VB-5510 "International URLs get shown punycoded"

[..] missing omnibox API [is] the main reason[..]
That's the only issue standing between me and Vivaldi...
-
@Pesala I know about the issue with IDNs, and the Vivaldi devs' stance. Making it behave like it is in literally any major browser might introduce a security issue, but not fixing it raises another security issue for anyone actually using IDNs (i.e., non-English speaking people), as it is quite impossible to distinguish between different IDNs when they are punycoded.
You don't even have to bother about switching a single letter to a similarly looking Unicode: you can switch the whole domain to a completely different domain, and nobody will notice.
-
@hawkflights , yes, but you can fix this problems with Trace (anti-fingerprint and more) and Site Bleacher, both OpenSource.
(Trace has a premium version with some secundary options if you want, β€3,29 , but not needed, it's instead of donations) -

Integration of Whatsapp as a messenger included in the browser like in the Opera browsers.
I know I can put Whatsapp into the side panel and all that, but sometimes it refreshes (without me giving the order to refresh passively, might I add) and de-syncs from my phone, there's also times when my notifications don't go off. -
Also, I don't know if there's a way to fix this but... the fact that autocorrection doesn't work with more than one language, that would also be very helpful to have since I frequently use at least two languages when writing. Seeing that squiggly line underneath everything I write even though it is correctly written is uncomfortable.

dashriel Right-click in a text edit box, and select Use all your languages.
Cliquez avec le bouton droit dans une zone de modification de texte et sΓ©lectionnez Utiliser toutes vos langues.
This thread on Whatsapp might help, but I don't use it myself.

The text correction one actually worked, that was just me not knowing I had to activate it instead of it working by itself, but the WA one stands, thanks for trying to help tho :Dl

I was using it all the time... because I barely use YouTube on browser. When I started doing that more frequently, I realized how badly it performs, so now I only use YouTube on whichever other browser I have around (Edge, in this case), when I have to go to YouTube on the desktop PC.
That is why I felt disappointed when I saw that the latest update was all about themes and colors. I would expect performance and usability to be first priority.

@xuanma , I use Piped, a front-end (apart of ignore country and age restrictions, it skips even promotions and intros (optional in settings) in the video itself, I don't know how it do this) or Free_tube, a desktop-client, instead of YT, they are blazing fast. YT has a lot of trackers and other crap, which slows it down in browsers which blocks it.
Before I use instances of Invidious (Jewtube, CloudTube), but these don't play a lot of vids, because they conected anonymously to googlevideo and not anonymously to googleapis like Piped.
Disadvantage is that it lacks some functions yet, but has in return a lot of privacy settings, proxie included.
