StickyPassword not working
-
I'm using Vivaldi 2.0.1309.29 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
Forms don't show stickypassword version 8.1.0.112 links. Stickypassword lists Opera but not Vivaldi on their site. Does anyone know how to get it working? If not, back to Firefox. -
@richardhc
Just shut down the computer and restarted Vivaldi and StickyPassword. Still not working. Nothing in settings in either program. In StickyPassword it lists supported browsers and available extensions - Opera is listed along with IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, SeaMonkey? and Pale Moon. But no Vivaldi.
I also have 1Password - that also lists Opera, IE, Edge, Chrome and Firefox. But not Vivaldi.
Too bad, I kind of liked Vivaldi. Of course I could always just open StickyPassword, copy the username and password, and paste them into the logins in Vivaldi - but I would not allow Vivaldi to save them (not Firefox or Chrome either). It is handy, however, to be able to access the username and password from StickyPassword right in the form without all that copy/paste hassle.
I won't uninstall Vivaldi just yet. Maybe someone at Vivaldi will answer this posting with a comment about when they will be waking up to the password manager world. -
The answer is simple.
When using Vivaldi, go to the Chrome Web Store and Install the Sticky Password addition.
Sticky Password support gave me the answer but said they don't want to include the instructions online because they do not officially support the browser and "in case browser specific autofill issues would appear there we probably won't be fixing them." -

@RichardHC Please report the issue to StickyPassword developers first.
And if you have more information to Vivaldi developers. Please read how to Report a bug for Vivaldi carefully and then report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker.
There is a thread on the StickyPassword forum (with over 1000 views) on this issue. The sticky password moderator Ondrej Novak said "There is still an issue with communication between our extension menu and the browser. However this problem cannot be fixed on our side. We already contacted Vivaldi developers and asked them to provide a fix which would allow integration of our new secured extension."
And I filed a bug report on the issue, too.

I've just uninstalled Vivaldi after using it for more than a year, I really like the browser but recently StickyPassword has stopped working, it was working great until about a month ago. The extension is installed but seems to be disabled though it's showing as enabled. I rely heavily upon SP (I didn't realise how heavily) so can't continue using Vivaldi. I'd be really keen to continue using it if this gets resolved.
-
@Gwen-Dragon If Sticky Password doesn't show up in the Chrome Web Store (it never has for me in Vivaldi), you can install the extension by pasting this URL into Vivaldi:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sticky-password-extension/bnfdmghkeppfadphbnkjcicejfepnbfe
I, too, am hoping that there will be a solution to this issue.
Edit: The SP program must be installed for the extension to work, but there is a free version that can be used for testing: https://www.stickypassword.com/

I have the same problem with StickyPassword + Vivaldi.
It seems to me I'll give up Vivaldi really soon, because it's absolutely impossible to work like this. First I've asked StickyPassword's support about the problem and there is an answer (I received it just an hour ago):I´m sorry, we implemented a general fix for chromium browsers to the latest update (this fix was necessary because of implementation of higher level of security of our extensions which caused the problem to all unofficially supported browsers). This fix resolved the problem for many chromium browsers however unfortunately not for Vivaldi. Even if we don´t support Vivaldi officially, our developers keep working on this issue. There is still an issue with communication between our extension menu and the browser. However this problem cannot be fixed on our side. We already contacted Vivaldi developers and asked them to provide a fix which would allow integration of our new secured extension.

@Gwen-Dragon Good question. I didn't actually get a number or an email from the bug report process. I found two numbers when searching for vivaldi bug report 44825 and
47089 - it was probably 47089 but I don't know how to check it or see what response, if any, there has been. -
Any news from the developers to this topic?
-
Ok. Sounds good. I'm looking forward to it.
-
Still not fixed as of today's Snapshot (1430.4).
-
@Gwen-Dragon It doesn't crash (I don't recall this ever happening in my case); the SP extension simply stays in the disabled state in Vivaldi. The extension's icon is grayed-out, unresponsive to mouse-clicks, and of course forms do not auto-fill.
-
@Gwen-Dragon It was my understanding that this was already reported under bug report 44825 (according to posts earlier in this thread).
-
@Gwen-Dragon But isn't that what bug 44825 is about? Since I didn't see it mentioned in today's snapshot changelog, I assume it has not been fixed yet. EDIT: I didn't simply assume it wasn't fixed, I did try the snapshot as well.

Some of us were hopeful based on what you posted earlier.
@Gwen-Dragon said in StickyPassword not working:
I saw something was patched in a internal 2.3.
Let us wait until next 2.3 Snapshot. -
@Gwen-Dragon No need to apologize, I realize that you were simply reporting what you saw. I appreciate you keeping us updated!
-
For me the problem is actually solved in that way that I'm using "1Password" now for at lease 1 year. May be in some month this problem is really solved by Vivaldi and Sticky Password so that I'm able to try again. In my trial period of Sticky Password I was not able to use the program because of the plugin not working. So I couldn't wait any longer. In "1Password" Vivaldi is officially supported. Sorry.

To all those having issues with Sticky Password and Vivaldi...
A new version of SP was just released, v8.2.2.11, currently available only via SP's website (not via app updates yet). I still cannot believe it, but everything now appears to work with Vivaldi! :smiling_face_with_open_mouth: Tested with the latest (v2.4.1468.4) snapshot.
