Can't login to any google services
-
@arniingi That's backwards. What appears to be happening in a small scattering of cases is that Google or a 3rd party source is blocking Vivaldi from signing in.
-
@ayespy I'm experiencing the same problem. Do we have to wailt until Google grants us access through Vivladi again?
-
I'm having the same problem here. Totally frustrated with it, I have tried reinstall it, restarted my computer, disabled my antivirus, disabled my extensions, cleared everything in Vivaldi (cache, cookies, etc) and nothing works. Everything is fine on the other browsers, going to use them for a while until problem resolved.
-
Same for me.
The only way I could log in to GMail is by using incognito mode, strangely.
Can you also try incognito mode? -
Just here to add in another report of this issue. New install, new profile, windows 10, not able to log in normally. It does let me log in in incognito mode. Really want to use Vivaldi since they've corrected the middle-click drag behavior but as it is it's a no-go.
-
@snakecro You are right, it's more of a band-aid just so I have access to the services in the meantime, and yes I would not be able to create another google account, sign into one unless I had previously signed into that account on the old version.
-
Ok, nice to see that I'm not the only one.
Right now something weird happened.
I'm sitting on my one laptop where everything is working ( vivaldi 2.0.1309.17 ).
I was logged in to gmail - so usually when I open other services I'm logged in to google.
..but when I opened music.google.com I was redirected to "Sign in to Chrome" page, wtf?Another thing, if google deny Vivaldi access, isn't it possible to use a User-Agent switcher? I've tried to set other browsers in the extension, and that's no solution..

I was not redirected, but it opened a separat page for the "Sign in to Chrome" page. No problem to recreate it..

@torgils
Hi, you can test with developer tools Ctrl+Shift+I
Click 3 dots menu > More Tools > Network conditions
Uncheck Select automatically and choose Edge or whatever
After restart Vivaldi setting is lost.Cheers, mib

@ayespy I can sign in while in Incognito but not in normal mode, it's not Google blocking it, it's something wrong with Vivaldi.
-
If you can sign in while in incognito maybe it's a cookie conflict caused by the new Vivaldi release major version. Try clearing the cookies for google sites.
I have no problems with either gmail and youtube, but maybe it affects randomly other google services. -
@ian-coog Done that, doesn't fix it. Used a completely new installation with a new profile after clearing history/cache and uninstalling old version.

@standpipe How is Vivaldi installed? Is it User Only, All Users, or Standalone? Where is the Vivaldi Executable located? Do you have ANY 3rd party security software installed? Do you change ANY Vivaldi flags?
There are now enough reports of this (3 or 4 on the forums) that it will be useful to find a common denominator if possible. Google is forever screwing things up, making their own pages and services unavailable, breaking utility in the name of security, discriminating against competitors, etc., etc. But it's hard to say what's happening here.
I personally am now having trouble at random times loading some Google pages - they load but don't display until one leaves the tab and comes back - (but no other pages), making me wonder if they broke Chromium, or broke their own sites, or just the combination, or what.
Any help finding common denominators will be useful. The bug should be reported on the bug report line by someone who has the bug - but if testers and developers can't reproduce it, no work will be done on it.

Everything works just fine. I am using Vivaldi snapshots for almost a year now. Recently I had issues with GMail. I could not log in. It just says "something went wrong". I tried removing every trace of Vivaldi and/or creating new profile nothing solves the problem. I also checked without any add ons with out enabling sync on a fresh install still the problem persist. Many people including me reported on the forum. It looks like the problem is on the Google end. Probably google denies access from Vivaldi. But strangely, I could access GMail in "incognito" window from Vivaldi. Probably people involved can guess something about whats going on. In this new snapshot also it persists.
Thanks for the nice browser. Really love it. Using Firefox to check GMail as of now. -
I use several Google accounts (GMail, GDrive, Blogger, Google Photos, G +, YouTube) and I do not have any logging problems in any of them.
Therefore I also think that the problem has to be related to some security soft, configurations or extension that caused this issue
Maybe it can help if everyone who has this problem lists their detailed specifications and software loaded with Vivaldi, maybe they'll find things they have in common -
@ayespy Tried it in all three modes (Single user, all, standalone) with new profiles, installed to my C:\Program Files\ directory as well as C:\ (drive is an ssd), just using windows defender (same issue with it disabled), reverted all Vivaldi flags with no change. Even tried running it as admin, no dice. Windows 10 Pro 64bit up to date.
I went and installed Vivaldi.1.15.1147.42.x64 from the archive page and it works fine, although it uses the old version of the google sing-in page when it logs you in. If you upgrade from that version it will keep you logged in until you are prompted to sign in again (like when you install an app through the play store).
Should add that google works fine on FF, Edge, Chrome, Chromium, and Brave for me.

@catweazle Since every other browser works (especially Chromium-based ones) it's most likely something Vivaldi changed causing the issue.
-
@standpipe Not necessarily. It obviously requires a combination of factors because only a few users experience it. That means it's not JUST Vivaldi, but Vivaldi+(SOMETHING), but what? For instance, Google has borked its services in the past for certain geographic areas. Where are you in the world?

Yes, it is strange, but Vivaldi is not like other Chromium and in other posts are reported conflicts with certain installed security programs that do not exist with other Chromium browsers.
The first idea was that Google itself discriminates against Vivaldi with its Browser sniffing (what in the new Google Sites format it still does), but then I and others also had logging problems, which is not the case. -
@ayespy Of course there is a conflict of some sort, but it is clear the new version is the main culprit as old versions and other Chromium browsers work as expected. If every other Chromium browser works, as well as incognito mode, there is something in the main browsing mode that is broken but only making itself known in very specific situations.
I'm in western NY.
