Open link in new tab
-
Hi, Is there (or could there be) a way to change the default behaviour of 'Open link in new tab' in link context menu so it opens tabs in the background by default? I find the current methods (Ctrl+left click or mouse wheel click) to be a little awkward to use. I wouldn't necessarily want to clutter the context menu with too many options, but if both options happened to be in the context menu, I would choose loading in the background over foreground every time, even if I did want to switch tab immediately after it loaded. Opening in foreground just seems so intrusive to me. :side:

I'm with you. Probably 80-90% of the time I open tabs in the background rather than foreground.
I'm sure opening in the background will eventually be available from the context menu, but my guess would be most likely by providing both options in the context menu (as they already are in the bookmarks panel), rather than by changing the default.

I've developed habit to open all links as new tab in background, when I read any list of links. No matter if it's list of search results, articles on frontpage of web news or list of topics in web forum. This habit comes from time of really slow connection, when kicking the link to load in background while continue reading the current page saves time, which would be otherwise wasted on watching progress bar of page load. And even today this habit saves me some time, because the page load is still far from instant. I don't know if it's my personal setting or default, but in chrome, if I right-click on link and choose the first option "open in new tab", it opens tab in background and I have to admit, this difference with Vivaldi is possibly the only one I feel inconvenient with.

I find the current methods (Ctrl+left click or mouse wheel click) to be a little awkward to use.
Middle button is the fastest and best method, one click instead of two or three.
What's ankward in that?
