Can't access localhost (VirtualBox) but can with Private Window
-
Hello!
I have a problem with accessing my localhost website with Vivaldi. Suddenly it decided to stop working, and showing me over and over "This site can’t be reached". But I can access it with Private Window / Incognito mode without problems.
It's actually the reason why I've switched my "Dev Browser" from Opera to Vivaldi. There was the same error and even after about 2 months I still can't access this localhost website in Opera, only through Incognito mode.
Resetting DNS on Windows or in Opera/Chrome doesn't help. So I thought that maybe you'll know how to fix this. At least in Vivaldi.
My setup is:
- Windows 7
- VirtualBox

Thanks for reply.
Vivaldi is on Windows. I'm accessing Virtualbox Server (Ubuntu Server) over "bridged" connection with Windows hosts setup to the Server IP (So I access server in browser by address www.example.domain.com).
Everything is working till something happens. I don't remember first time with Opera. This time I had some kind of network adapter crash on Windows and couldn't see any Wi-Fi connections for couple of seconds. I refreshed localhost website and as far as I understand - Vivaldi couldn't load website just because I had adapter disabled. I restored adapter and internet connection, and it seems like Vivaldi still remember that my website was offline/doesn't exist and don't want to access it.
But when I open private window I can access it with no problem. Same with other browser, Firefox for example. IP/address is pinging too.

But it was working for month or 2 without any problems on the same configuration with Vivaldi.
And also I can access this website with private window (File -> New Private Window).
EDIT:
Ok. Finally got it. I needed to clear all private data and restart browser. Finally it's working. Too bad that now I need to log in again everywhere..
EDIT 2:
I just had same problem. Now I know more. I'll write it here in case that I'll forget, or someone else will search:
- Clear private data in browser (history, cookies etc), and close browser.
- Turn off Virtual Box server.
- Go to VB Server settings -> Network -> Disable network adapter (Ok/Accept changes)
- Again to settings, this time Enable network adapter
- Turn on Virtual Box server, log in and check new IP if changed ( ifconfig )
- Go to Windows / Hosts and change old IP to new IP if changed.
- CMD in Windows, and ipconfig /flushdns
- Restart Browser and website should work.
