Skype web broken video support
-
After upgrade vivaldi(1.13.1008.34-1 -> 1.15.1147.42-1) was broken support of video calls in skype for web(https://web.skype.com/). The site have access to camera.
Voice calls works. When interlocutor activate camera or screencast I see only preloader. When I trying to activate camera(screencast doesnt support in web version of skype) camera activates, I see thumbnail for 1 second and then it losts. Interlocutor doesnt see my picture. My camera indicator(builtin laptop indicator) continue to work until call will ended.
Now I'm on 1.15.1147.47 (Stable channel) (64-bit) and the problem here. I was test vivaldi-snapshot 1.16.1206.3(clear profile) - same behavior. In google chrome 67.0.3396.87 (Official Build) (64-bit) video calls works like in vivaldi 1.13.1008.34-1.

Can you reproduce the three videos on the test?
-
@lamarca yes, of course. Videos on other sites(and in other browsers) works. vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs 65.0.3325.184-1 installed.
-
also camera works on this site: https://www.onlinemictest.com/webcam-test/
-
If you played the videos, then libffmpeg.so is installed at ~/.local/vivaldi
-
@lamarca Don't have this path. ffmpeg 1:4.0-2 installed.
-
@hxss The path changed due legal issues, you must have them installed at /opt/vivaldi*
What is your distro? -
@lamarca oh, you mean ~ = vivaldi home. I was looking for in my home. I'm on Arch linux. Yes this lib exist:
/opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so
-
I need to ask some Arch users. Skype now belongs to Microsoft. What if they are blocking Vivaldi?
-
The right place for libffmpeg is /opt/vivaldi
-
What if they are blocking Vivaldi?
I was downgrade to vivaldi-1.13.1008.34-1 and vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs-62.0.3202.89-1 just now. Everything works there. I can receive and send video from camera.
The right place for libffmpeg is /opt/vivaldi
/opt/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so exists too.
find /opt/vivaldi -name libffmpeg.so -ls 1070288 4004 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4098760 Apr 25 18:55 /opt/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so 1331482 1444 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1477176 Jun 14 18:48 /opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so

Glad to know you found a temporary work around. You can't get stuck in 1.13
The nasty browser sniffing still present. -
@lamarca my temporary workaround is google chrome 67.0.3396.87
I was test vivaldi 1.13 just for discard the theory of the blockade of vivaldi from microsoft. Now I'm again on vivaldi-1.15.1147.47-1. -
forget to say...I also see this message in skype chat when trying to activate camera.
-
@hxss I will ask a polish guy who is an Arch user
-
@lamarca Hello. It's been two months. I was update vivaldi(1.15.1147.47-1 -> 1.15.1147.64-1) and skype web still dont allow to use camera. I aslo can't see video if interlocutor switch on camera or start screencast.
-
@hxss Sorry, I am just a volunteer. The Stable uses Chr65 as engine.
Here is one more workaround: after installing the last Snapshot:It's the best way. Please let me know
-
@lamarca in latest snapshot(1.16.1259.3-1) skype work with camera without extra moving with variables. Will try to use it. Thanks
P.S.: As I understand vivaldi sync don't work with google-chrome on android?
-
@hxss If the Snapshot works, no need the workaound.
I am sure google is out. Sync will work on android, Vivaldi mobile is expected. -
