@ayespy Done (after I changed my links regarding modified user-data- and disk-cache-dir).
But the old 32bit version in program files (x86) was not removed. How can I clean up my disk without dead bodies in the registry?Later the evening:
Just cleaned up by myself. In registry removed the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vivaldi\Application*" entries in the
"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Store",
restart the computer and removed the (x86) directory (what is the right one, folder or directory?).mf

@mikefield Delete the unwanted folders and then run a reg cleaner I suppose. If both of the versions were installed in the standard, unaltered fashion using the installer, They should have installed to the exact same location, leaving no folders anywhere else. At some point, you did a non-standard or "advanced" install, either selecting "all users" for one of them, or "standalone" method or something, and then you installed the other one without selecting the same options.
-
@Ayespy Both were installed as "all users". So I cleaned it up manually as written above.
The 32bit version is located in c:\program files (x86)\ and the 64bit in c:\program files\ so they cant be installed in the exact same location.
But is it worth to create a bug report, that the 32bit version was not uninstalled from the 64bit version? Not everybody knows to help him/herself.mf
-
@mikefield Had I known you installed as "all users," I supposed I would have advised you to uninstall the 32-bit one before you installed the 64-bit one. I never install for "all users," so I didn't think of that.

The bug/regression with simultaneous closing private & normal window is still with us
It just happens less often after long usage of V... -
@rotfl Yes, I can confirm that
-
@Ayespy OK, this was on the one Notebook, on the other I installed it as "Install per user". I know, it's strange.

It looks like Tab Zoom is still broken. I can go to a site that is in love with microscopic font sizes, increase the zoom level a few times, then open a new tab for a link within the same domain, and it resets back to the default 100% zoom level.
Just as a thought... Maybe page zoom settings could be added to the Sync feature. There could be a single JSON file that contains all the custom zoom levels that Vivaldi would look at while rendering a page, and it could also be uploaded with the rest of the data Sync collects. Of course I have no idea how difficult this may or may not be to implement, but if it is relatively simple, I'd love to see it.
-
@aerogems did you disable
vivaldi://settings/webpages/
→ WEBPAGES → Use Tab Zoom?This synchronizes and saves zoom settings on a domain level.
But beware of dragons (start with a clean session and keep it disabled).
These are definitely not the friendly Gwen-like dragon types. -
@becm The little blurb under the check box makes it sound like if it's unchecked it would reset the zoom level, and if it's checked, it maintains it, but I guess I have nothing to lose by giving it a try.
Edit: After closing and reopening Vivaldi with that option disabled, it seems to work as expected now. So either someone has an if loop backwards in the Vivaldi code, or someone needs to change the label under the check box for the tab zoom feature. Whatever the case, it works, I'm happy, so thanks @becm!
-
@aerogems when enabled, it does exactly what the description says:
Retain zoom level for all pages opened in that existing tab.
It just does not say that zoom levels are synchronized and persistent on a domain level (Chrome mode) if it's disabled!If you have more than one open tab per site when you (re-)disable it, there will be confusion.
See initial post in the linked thread an heed my warning. -
The download panel has a existing bug in several snapshots since 1.15 if it was not the first one introduced the bug. The file length of the saved html file is not correct. It always shows as several bytes. eg, 9 bytes. while other files are OK. eg, zipped files

[BUG] TAB and speed dial thumbnails are blank in private mode
- start Vivaldi in incognito mode: command line vivaldi --incognito
- open a web page (e.g: https://vivaldi.com/blog/snapshots/work-begins-on-1-16/)
- open a second web page (e.g.: https://www.facebook.com)
- hover the first TAB, you'll see that the pop-up thumbnail is blank
- add a page as speed dial, you'll see that speed dial tumbnail remains blank
can anybody confirm?
newscpq
NOTICE: if you also start vivaldi in normal mode (not private) and load the same URLs, that have a blank thumbnail, then the thumbnail will appear into the private window
-
@newscpq: I'm using Vivaldi 64 on W10
-
@newscpq It used to work like that since I remember. Especially hover thumbs.
-
@rotfl: ...so, it's a feature, not a bug?
